Plenty of people hit shots on par 3s that will either dribble into the hole or backspin and roll in but just nailing it like that with the flag stick in is crazy and definitely not anything this dude will ever do in his lifetime again.

most of the cool stuff is from Morrowind which is over 20 years old at this point. might be a bit hard to get into. the progression of the Elder Scrolls series is just Bethesda methodically polishing away any interesting eccentricities the game setting had.

Eh, not really. For sure they've squandered a lot of the weirdness that Kirkbride introduced in Morrowind (which is incredible if you can be bothered to dig into it), but it's not some sort of linear progression to the bottom. TES Online has some ok ambitions with regards to lore. It's nowhere near Morrowind, but it does way more than Oblivion and Skyrim.

My favorite piece of TES lore is that Dwarves aren't actually short, that's just an in-universe misconception based on a misunderstanding of the translation for Dwemer being "deep elf." Edit: Also, there's a meteor that's just hovering ominously over a city in Morrowind and nobody really knows why, but some people believe it's a turd that fell out of the devil's butthole when the God king of city... did some stuff to him. I thought the dwarves were called that because they were extinct and nobody managed to translate their language, but they had been able to translate the language of an extinct race of giants who (of course) considered the elves from the mountains to be short. Either way I wish there were more fantasy franchises with unique settings/lore like that instead of everything being standard Tolkien/DnD stuff (except maybe we name things a bit differently.) Morrowind was the right balance between fantasy and alien to still be recognisable, but also weird enough to keep you interested. Taeke has a new favorite as of 22:15 on May 22, 2023 |

Morrowind was the best, because it was literally written during a days-long whiskey bender. Some of it is just insane. I'm still bitter about Skyrim being so bland by comparison, and also going "uh the mountain in Morrowind exploded and wrecked the whole place so there's no going back to that cool setting. Here have Northern Europe again!"
