i remember when a cat 4 was going to slam directly into oahu, which would catastrophically devastate honolulu and be staggeringly destructive, especially since it has never in recorded history been hit by a hurricane. but then it just sort of fell apart and we got a little bit of rain and that's it. i assume that was the three >10kft mountains doing, and guam doesn't have that kind of protective shield volcano.
