The starting point of this story was a couple of panels of an old issue of X-Factor featuring a very hastily drawn Cyclops and Wolverine. Given that we are one issue after Wolvie first had a horny illicit pash with Jean Grey, it’s hard to explain the energy of bonhomie between him and his intended cuckold.
However, it was this very energy I sought to capture to really get across the 100% mutual respect between Brick and the Wolf-man.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be an issue if Imgur hadn't hosed up.

Unless they've been using imgpile all this time and it's always just worked before so I never noticed. There's a solid chance of that too.

Seems like they have, I've never had any issues seeing images on Imgur or any other hosting source besides that up to and including right now

Imgpile embeds are definitely taking a little extra time to load tonight. My lost weekend with imgpile came after I noticed Darthmed had been using it for several months with no complaints, and then I started using it and it turned out a few people had trouble with both posts and had either been really polite about it or just weren't into Retail.

I think this one may be referring to a different use of the term. This example is from ~30 years earlier, but in one or two Sherlock Holmes stories, the local homeless children are referred to as "street Arabs" despite having no connection whatsoever to Arabia. The term is used synonymously with "street urchin" and (arguably) isn't even intended as pejorative, probably referring instead to their nomadic ways and street smarts. One of the older children, Wiggins, is even a reliable agent for Holmes, trusted to carry out complex assignments.

I wouldn't advise using the word in this sense in the 21st century, of course. But in the context of the OBH cartoon, he's just (jokingly, I think) calling the other fellow a bit of a wanderer and nomad who might run out on the rent.

I assume that one day, I'll catch up with this thread and resume posting The Timid Soul, but I wanted to share a thought that occurred to me today, for those of you who remember Caspar from previous threads.

If Caspar was around today, he would a) wear a mask when outside, but b) take it off when he went into crowded public buildings, for fear of offending anyone who didn't believe in wearing them.

I had switched back to Imgur, then the brouhaha with them blocking entire IPs started up, so I switched back to Imgpile. It didn’t help that Imgur started doing the thing where it pretends to be running over capacity when visited while using a VPN again. Still trying to find an image host that’s free, has a pleasant interface for uploading and for copying BBcode-formatted image links, remains accessible through VPN, doesn’t seem like it’s going to disappear after a month or two, and doesn’t throw any weird issues with the images being unviewable by other people most of the time.

That third panel of the first comic just makes it. It's still funny if you remove it, but that panel included just makes it top tier.
