Does not need two currencies and two different places to make em. Just let me convert the zoanite directly, what the hell

I can only guess that they did it this way so they could give you the crystal rewards sometimes and you’d still have zonite to autobuild stuff when you want to.

I found a really easy way to beat Lynels today. Using a 2 handed sword, initiate a charge spin attack, lock on and put yourself right by his back leg and belly/ribs? It's basically a classic dark souls strafe trick, you can stay on his nook and he can't reach you with his attacks. And apparently the two handed swing attack counts as blocking or deflecting the spin attacks Lynels will do. I thought I just got lucky and buffed the I out or something the first time but I did it on 3 of them after with same success. The real limit at that point is damage of sword and durability.

Super simple and you can also use your about to break weapons for the mount attack as a bonus. Although I suspect it would be faster to just do another round of charge swings.

Just started on the last leg of this quest, I'm not sure how the weapon durability works here--if you fuse weapons to her arms, do they have durability? How about while you're riding her? I've been too nervous to waste my good weapons on her. I assume that like your own weapons, monster parts and gems won't have durability when used as arm fusions?

Huh? Stuff fused to your weapon does have durability, i've had my fused parts break before my weapon does.

and far as I can tell stuff fused has durability like normal, presumably some zonai device bonus since cannons and such seem to last for more than they do on a shield or something I feel, but haven't tested to compare. I already closed game but seemed like they hit for weapon damage, it's just slower and more awkward than normal attacks, plus you give up other options

Weapons fused to your weapon have durability. Monster parts and diamonds have never broken for me; at the very least, the hilt gives out before the parts do so when they get red I can take them to the goron kid, defuse them, and fuse them to a new weapon. If they have durability I've never reached it.

Zonai Charges are the little orbs that drop off every robot you kill, plus the dusty robot corpses lying around. The large ones you get as chest rewards and whatnot in shrines and poo poo. Their main use is plopping into gumball machines to get shitloads of zonai toys. You can eat/use them in the menu to gain battery life in an emergency as well.

Crystalized Charges, the glowing little triangles, are the upgrade currency for battery. You give them to the robot outside of lookout town. The primary way of acquiring these is fighting yiga camps, pursuing khoga, finding forges and chests underground, and fighting bosses in the depths.

Zonaite ore is the stripey rocks you get hundreds of everywhere underground. LArge zonaite is the rarer form of it. Primary use for little zonaite is AutoBuild. Large Zonaite occasionally asked for upgrades.

Excess zonaite can be traded at certain refinery/forge areas to the robot manning the furnace and shop shelves. You can buy some amount of crystalized charges per forge (idk if it restocks, i didn't usually even buy the initial stock). You can also waste zonaite on plain temp charges, but, why would you ever?

Ah I gotcha. Well I know monster parts have durability in the situation in question about, I have definitely fused monster parts from ground and had them bust. No idea how much durability it had compared to anything else.

Large zonaite is used to buy large crystalized charges, which I believe you can buy one large (worth 20 crystalized charges) for 3 large zonaite. So 15 large zonaite will get you an extra battery segment.

As far as I can tell stuff on her arms just has durability like usual, whether or not you’re riding. Zonai parts on the arm last a while but still run out eventually. She doesn’t seem to have any friendly fire though, so you can put cannons or flame emitters on her arm without worrying about getting blown up.

Since Large Zonaite can't be used for autobuild shenanigans, once you've maxed out your battery, the best use for Large Zonaite is to buy the large zonai charges because the large charges do two things aside from being gacha currency: fully refill your battery to max and gives you a special charge on your battery that lasts for a specific duration (something like 30 seconds?) regardless of how much battery would it would normally use up.

yes

although I kind of almost like those because the armor pops off with a flurry rush from a good hammer and then you get a free spanking out of it and something to throw on your shield

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPMFWxabKEw

but seriously it's about defensive play and flurry rush more than anything, they replaced the old calamity gannon "parry everything" with the new 'dorf "dodge everything"

if you need practice, the phantom ganons have a lot of the same attack patterns with their individual weapons so if you turn off your sages to stop them from interrupting things you can get your practics in on the different attack timings

I have a dumb question - how do you increase your Zonai battery?

I still have just 1 battery charge which is what you start out with, and I feel like I've either missed something or just being really stupid. I've used the gacha machines to get more toys to mess around with but I don't think they're used to increase the charge, right?

(if it's tied to a narrative thing then I'd rather not know specifics - I'll get there eventually I guess)

There are exactly two places to increase your battery, one is on the tutorial island right next to the rewind shrine, the other is on a rock just north of lookout landing, both are really easy to miss

you can find NPCs that trade zonite, small and large, for crystallized charges; 100 crystals = 1 battery pip, 3 battery pips per battery icon. there are a lot more npcs you can find to trade zonite for crystallized charges running around, but there's only those two that convert crystal to actual battery
