Also, am I right reading Warpcoven (a non-Sisters team I think is cool) came into existence and overwrote Compendium 1000 Sons in the Kill Team Annual publication? Thus there is a chance, however small, that the 2023 Compendium will overwrite and buff Sisters?

No bespoke Kill Team has been overwritten like that thus far and I think it's pretty unlikely that they'll start.

Yeah would Space Marines players be happy if their only modernized Kill Team was Scouts?

Edit so if I do want Warpcoven it doesn't look like they have a box cuz they were White Dwarf / Annual. Am I stuck spending :10bux: on boxes of rubric marines and sorcerers cuz that would be sad

Yup, it sucks. At least every box of Rubrics has a sorcerer you can use. I dunno if it has the parts to bash a second one.

Nope, the Sorcerer is a one-off. I bought Rubrics and a box of Exalted Sorcerers for mine.

A sprue will do you unless you want to go full goat meme team. (Do not do this.) Generally you run 2-4 Tzaangors, unless you're facing a team that is hilariously weak to elites (eg Phobos). Even then, less than 18 APL is grim.

For Tzaangs, your best ones are the blade guys. They're not amazing but they can get some work done against horde-y melee types, and they're very consistent, especially with their spec op. Failing that, they sit on objectives as well as anyone. The champion is less reliable but really likes the Tzaangor spec op for guaranteed crits, so he's more reasonable with four of them. (Give him the axe so he survives to fight the second target, the sword is rarely useful.) Move them in pairs.

The chainsword Tzaangors are worse in melee than the blades in order to get a shooting attack you never actually want to use. There's just no use case for them.

The horn and icon Tzaangors are just bad. Neither of them does enough to justify the weakness of their melee, nor the AP cost and clustering risk to activate their abilities. They will always disappoint you.

Yeah, three Sorcs, a Rubric with the Icon, one gunner, and two Tzaangors is my plan. I did one blades and the axe champion so far but a second regular blades is also on my to-build list.

It has two heads, two staff-tops and two options for the off hand (pistol or casting a spell), so if you can wrangle a space marine arm holding, like, a banner pole or something, you can convert another sorcerer out of the box.

Three sorcerers are best but you could probably sub in a regular CSM sorcerer for that. I think there’s also a pop goes the monkey kit with all the bits needed to convert enough sorcerers but I’d imagine it’s not cheap.

I started working on the second half of my Ork KT while I wait for my Gretchen in the mail. I don’t know if he’ll get much use, but I’m really liking my Big Shoota heavy (“Big Yellow”) so far!

I took pics of the first half over a week ago and just haven’t gotten the chance to upload. Anyone on the fence about Orks should try them, they’re way more enjoyable to paint than I thought they would be!

There's an icon on the Tzaangor sprue so you could prob bash with that, a spare random sword, and a Rubric for a second sorcerer. The third sorcerer is the hard part but all you really need is a sufficiently Chaos-y marine that is clearly not a Rubric, even if you don't have a CSM or TS army. Hell, the Legionaries team has a sorcerer and enough parts to make a kitbash that could pass for a Chosen/Aspiring Champ with sword and a sorcerer with sword.

Definitely, Ahriman had a non-TS former librarian as an apprentice in the books so there’s plenty of room to have a regular-ish CSM or even librarian as the third sorcerer

I really like the MESBG terrain, and some of it is shockingly reasonably priced. Anyway, I managed to get some off of Facebook marketplace since AoS terrain really only fits the AoS aesthetic and you can argue that LotR terrain works for warhammer fantasy and man. It drybrushes so well. The details are so nice. It takes so little effort to make everything pop

Got invited to play some killteam. I have no clue how to play but they will teach me. I have maybe a dozen Imperial Guard lasgunners, some sergeants, three plasma gunners, a flamer, and a heavy bolter team. Can I play with what I have? Nothing is painted, and I'll want to paint before playing, so if you have a list that uses what I have please post it so I can steal it and begin painting.

Just run them as a proxy team for Vet Guard. You'll l want 14 models total I think. No one should care at all about WYSIWYG for casual KT games. Just mark them well or use cards and tokens, etc.

So a veteran guardsman team is

1 sergeant

And then 9 from
any number of lasgun troopers
1 confidant (backup sergeant, uses the same equipment as a sarge)
1 zealot (lasgun guy with extra abilities)
1 medic (lasgun guy that can heal)
1 comms veteran (vox guy)
1 demolition veteran (has bombs)
1 bruiser (close combat guy)
1 hardened veteran (has bionics, resilient)
1 sniper (shockingly, has a sniper rifle)
1 spotter (can call in a mortar)
1 flamer
1 grenade launcher
1 meltagun
1 plasma gun

They then either get the choice of some artillery assets or another 4 basic lasgun guys. If you've got spare bits you can add them to various dudes, bombs, a medkit etc to mark specialists, or otherwise pain a detail on them/the base to mark them out.

Basic guardsmen are 14 guys - a sarge, a vox, a flamer, plasma, meltagun, grenade launcher, sniper and then the rest is lasgun troopers.

I played necromunda a while back and it was poo poo because you need a DM to make up the rules or it doesn't work at all. Fun, for a while, but, ultimately poo poo as a game.

You all recommended I just play kill team instead, and I finally did at the weekend. Boy, you weren't wrong. What a cool and good game! Basically everything necromunda wishes it was, and more!

I think I might have enough Admech to make a team but I don't have any of the larger based models, can I mane a team of just skitarii?

Also, how can I get a Votann team, would it have to mean buying the big box set?

Right now it would mean buying the big box (if you can find it) or buying the Votann sprue on eBay. They will eventually come out as their own team box, so if you can wait, that's the way to go.

Yeah, I played them in the game at the weekend and the Sicarians certainly seemed like the workhorses / the bit that made the team actually good, but I think to begin with just having a field able, painted list means we could start playing.

How are they fast though? All I can see is that you can upgrade them to get a climbing bonus?

Any idea how long the individual box sets usually take to come out after the big boxes? I appreciate that's probably hard to say, but is it like months or years?

Optimized Gait is significant and you pretty much always take it. Also, Infiltrators infiltrate 40k-style with a ploy, and Ruststalkers get free fight actions with a strat ploy. They also don't rely on tricks that limit their movement, unlike your skitarii.

As for the timeline on Kill Teams getting their own box, it's usually 3-4 months. 10e might screw with that though.

It could change but they did say something in their release roadmap that "all single boxes" or something to that affect would be out by late summer.

The issue is that a lot of the single KT boxes have sold out just as quickly as the big boxes lately. So if you want them you gotta be just as ready to preorder them the day they go up.

Ahhhh I see, yeah, when you put that all together, they certainly give you a massive extension across the zone. Makes sense. Thanks!

Ah, dang for real? My friend said he got the new inquisitor box set thing, but that it was supposed to 'open' for pre-orders at 10:00am, he got on there at 9:57 and did his order, when he was done it rolled around to 10:00am and was sold out, lol. So mad.

The subsequent single box releases are not quite that bad but yeah they've not been the most available. The big boxes sell out in a minute like your friend says, the individual team boxes sell out over a couple days or on the day and how quickly they sell out probably depends on how good they are in the actual game and how cool they seem so it's pretty hard to predict.

So like the Arbites are sold out now but you could get them for a day or two I think. The Kasrkin sold out super quick because they were/are a very competitive unit in 40k and people really wanted them. I'd imagine some of the weirder alien KTs that are less appealing generally are more available but the beastmen for example are apparently bloody great so they'll probably sell out when they become available.

The artillery options for KT Veteran Guard don't seem worth it next to having four more dorkuses with lasguns to sit on objectives and soak damage. Am I underestimating them? Cuz it's a shame they're so conceptually cool and would go a long way to increasing a game group buddy's interest in that team and therefore playing KT with me.

Gonna get a Starter Set and go from there. Goonhammer says it's great value but annoyingly lacks the full content for the included Ork and Guard teams. Agree?

It's kind of hard for your opponent to interact with them to get VPs. Like you can't kill an air strike and claim some objective. Also, it can help you reach out and touch an enemy when you realize you're out of position. But yeah, more bodies is hard to beat.

VG always takes the extra dorks, without fail, no exceptions. The extra bodies and activations are much much much better than the artillery, to the point where I'm not sure how much they would have to buff those to make it a viable option compared to the 4 extra jabronis.

If you want that sort of playstyle, the elucidian starstriders does that, but better.

I don't really get the allure of having "game rules as an operative" be a significant part of your team, but .
