Presumably with a 3 hour commute. The articles I'm looking forward to is the comeback of 1904 style flophouses and why they're a really good thing, actually.

Yeah, the van-living/little house living always seemed like a false economy unless you had a stable/safe (and low cost) place to setup and even then people are still dropping 20k plus on an asset that could be stolen/lost/damaged pretty easily. I get it is a way to get around paying rent but it really seems a giant hassle. That said, boat living seems even worse.

The worst "tiny home" design I ever saw was some model made to be easily towed by a car, it looked like a built up trailer. Because you just know that it's going to be jacked the moment its left unattended in a parking lot or whatever by the owner. It's part of a larger memory hole/deliberate misrepresentation of history I reckon. They don't need to roll back employee protections, they can just redefine employees as independent contractors. They don't need to abolish building regulations and rental laws, they can just define small shacks as not actually a building. And so on.

In California you are exempt from property taxes if the tiny house can be moved on its own wheels, so thats one incentive for it. So glad I didn't go down that path.
