The other thing I learned was that Lash LaRue was rejected by Warner Bros after first screen testing there because they already had Humphrey Bogart in their stable and didn't want two hunks under contract at the same time.

That's not how they cut films. They edit out random unoffensive things just to get the runtime down.

Fun fact: sometimes it's not anyone from RiffTrax that edits the movies. It depends on the cut they get from the distributors.

And they were right. The screen was barely able to handle the presence of Lash and Paul Homan as Luger at the same time in Alien Outlaw.

Did Bill and Kevin stop writing? The usual writing credits now list Mike, Conor, and Sean, and a couple of contributing authors.

It's been like that for a while now. I want to say for like a year or more?

I basically just buy Bridget and Mary Jo stuff now.

As soon as a few years back Bill would get a writing credit occasionally but I don't remember the last time I saw Kevin's name on a recent one. Now, I don't think Bill does any of the writing.

Yeah Bridget and Mary Jo have said that some of the ones they've received have had weird edits, like for language.

The bad guy going "oh yeah, you have to play by the rules and take me in" doesn't quite work when Cobra has just spent the last 20 minutes murdering gang members. Including burning a guy alive.

I laugh every single time the Nick Nolte impression comes out, it's probably one of the most consistently funny gags they do.

Watching Cobra with the rifftrax right now and Stallone is surprisingly boring. I'd rather just watch Stone Cold again.

Yeah, there's a reason this one isn't put up there with his genuinely good work (Rocky, First Blood) or his genuinely fun campy stuff (Over the Top). It's just stock 80's cop on the edge stuff without embracing the ham.

But it does embrace the ketchup!

One of the weirdest things about Cobra is that it was remade 9 years later with Cindy Crawford and one of the Baldwins.

Well more they were both based on the same book with cobra only being vaguely reminiscent of the book after all the rewrites and Stallone edits.
