Years later in its most recent patch Witcher 3 made it impossible to use most consumables underwater, with the reasoning of “Hold on, maybe that’s silly.” No change to land Slimering though.

My metabolism is augmented. I say as a spheroid of flesh that might generously still be called a "man," horfing down burgers, but I have a robot arm or maybe a magic tattoo so it's cool.

It was explicit in Deus Ex, they even had special food in-universe that your nano machines/cyborg enhancements could convert most efficiently to fuel your augmentations. Silently snacking in an air vent to help seal your bullet holes.

My personal favorite is finding food on the ground in side scrollers/metroidvanias and it gives you health instead of food poisoning First time I noticed how weird this was as a kid—playing Turtles in Time and finding boxes of pizza lying around in the New York sewer.

And if you had to pass a gangrene check at the end of a match if you took damage or your score is wiped from the board.
