Have we talked about Nation of Language? Great band. Really scratches that moody neo-80s vibe. Feels like something you'd here in a John Hughes film. And they're coming to play here in November! Very excite.

However, the second album didn’t blow me away, and the new singles are OK but I just feel it’s just more of the same? They’re very good fun love though, you’ll have a great time.

I am really enjoying Clark’s new album ‘sus dog’ Produced by Thom Yorke, who has been a fan of his for years apparently. I normally don’t like Clark’s singing, but it works great with his music on this album. This feels like a more successful stab at an album he tried years ago called ‘iradelphic’. His older output is more on the idm side and is worth checking out too. https://youtu.be/a_2ToWx_s-A https://youtu.be/lrXghx178lI

2nding Sus Sog, I had been looking forward to it since the Town Crank track was released and the album really lives up to it. Big fan of Clark for that whole off kilter electronic vibe. Him and Lorn. Also been digging the machinedrum remix of a Crosses song “day one” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0NzjsDA_PU

I think I first heard Arthur Moon through this thread. They just put out a new album a day or two ago: https://arthurmoon.bandcamp.com/album/chaos-chaos-chaos-side-b Was listening in the car today and it is very good. The first song is my least favorite so far, but even it isn't bad at all. Trig Discipline fucked around with this message at 07:08 on Jun 5, 2023 |

It didn't. Alan Palomo is ditching the band name and releasing music under his real name going forward.

Wonder if the xx is low key done for a while since they're all doing their own things. I highly doubt they are done though, they'll just do like all the groups and once they need money again they'll announce their reformation.

Saw LCD Soundsystem tonight at the Re:SET Concert Series. They played pretty much everything I wanted to hear. The show kicked rear end.

I saw LCD Soundsystem once, but they played too big of a venue and the ~vibes~ were off. I missed the first few songs because it took an hour to actually get in. Once inside, it wasn't full, so the show seemed lacking in energy. The band themselves were great, just wish I saw them somewhere smaller, or at least with a more full crowd.

I’d be pretty bummed if I saw them and they only played two American dream songs, and one of them was Oh Baby

LCD Soundsystem is one of those bands I just can't get into. It's not like I think that their music is bad or anything like that. There's something that just doesn't grab me.

I saw LCD in the Barrowlands in Glasgow which is the exact perfect size of venue for them, and James Murphy said as much when I saw them back in like 2010.

This was more of a greatest hits set, and LCD have a lot of hits.

What is it about Brooklyn Steel and KEXP that make every performance fire? Of course acoustics and technical factors like equipment play a role. And they are just well recorded. But it seems that every act brings their A game. Highly recommend searching for these recordings of your favourite big name indie artists. KEXP performances often make the album version sound like a mixtape. The quality is that high. Bright Bart fucked around with this message at 05:59 on Jun 17, 2023 |

I listen to KEXP's Song of the Day podcast every day. Admittedly I haven't discovered many artists from it that I've listened to a lot, but their selections are eclectic and it's cool to have that to listen to while I'm getting ready for the day.

BonoMan posted:KEXP... Soooo good (it's also my primary source of discovering new bands) I just discovered Phoebe Bridgers. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ9-xN6dCW4 It starts off as a typical ballad and not particularly special. You can play it in the background while browsing. Then a couple of minutes in it becomes something else entirely. A minute after that it becomes Come on Feel the Illinoise! Sadly I think this is only song where PB channels Sufjan Stevens. And you know how I said you can let it play in the background? Well you can. But know that the top comment on YouTube as of right now is "didn't expect to see phoebe bridgers dressed as a skeleton while she passionately kisses an elderly woman but here we are".
