In YT shorts, he’s Martin Short and Jerry Lewis run through a vitamix, but he’s way more chill in his long-form videos. I like him but I acknowledge that he’d wear out his welcome right quick if his YT shorts persona (which can be attributed to TikTok) weren’t limited to that.

Yeah, it's worth a minute or so every week when he posts a new short but I don't go back and binge his stuff or anything. It's wholesome silliness.

Is it weird that, besides the usual YouTube editing and fuckery, the main reason I can't stomach a "short" is that they've taken away your ability to move around on the timeline? gently caress that, gently caress you

i also usually have to turn down the volume in videos, so not having those controls really sucks. you can change the url to use the regular player, though. works with embeds here, too. for example, the one that jerry posted earlier: https://youtube.com/shorts/OB6yhhrEezc. if you change it to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB6yhhrEezc then it embeds properly, or if you click through to it, it will give you the regular player on youtube's site https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB6yhhrEezc it's annoying to do this constantly, so shorts are inherently limited. but you can get rid of the stupid shorts player if you really want.

I wonder how hard it would be for astral to add some code to covert /shorts/ to /watch?v= when used on the forums? Meanwhile, when I go to YouTube's website, I use the extention Enhancer For YouTube. It will automatically make Shorts use the standard video player. It's available for Chrome, FireFox, and Edge.

I just watched the video to make sure, shells are included in these cookies. He makes a big show about how gross they came out. I can't find the exact recipe he was reading but every recipe for cookies that includes sunflower and pumpkin seeds that I can find obviously intend for you to not include the shells. And it seems like a pretty gross recipe anyway so he probably didn't need to do that for the video

Video in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hKf9C6kvB8 When he reads it he says "shelled sunflower seeds" and uses the right thing, and then just "pumpkin seeds" and uses the unshelled ones. Maybe he's simply unfamiliar with pumpkin seeds and how they are supposed to be used?

Ja, we'd take the ones from our seasonal pumpkin, rinse them, them roast them in the oven with some salt Never heard of shelling them.

Oh just looked it up, and it is an essay and it is online: https://www.phys.ufl.edu/courses/phy3221/spring10/HaldaneRightSize.pdf The opening paragraph is just him giving shade to contemporaries zoologist for not thinking about animal size all that much.
