I think it’s because semi/hollow arch tops are notoriously difficult to wire up.

That's not what gaslighting means you hyperbolic dipshit.
A while back, one of the That Pedal Show guys did a video about trying to install new pickups and hardware into an Epiphone hollowbody and it’s quite a ride. You can see the steady descent into madness and despair in real time.

Gonna have to see this.

Also, nothing makes me happier than seeing a guitar with a nice worn neck. I love knowing it's been played that much.

I think it was here or the guitar thread where someone mentioned tying fishing line to the pots and switch before taking them out and leaving it threaded through the proper holes and when I think about it in my head I think that’s get you most of the way. There’s bound to be other complications though.

When I put new pickups and electronics in this guitar

Since it had its original stuff stripped out I had to use a nut tied to a string and a magnet to get the pots into place.

The worst part was trying to get the out put jack in place. Since the top had gotten partially smashed there was barely enough threads sticking out to get the nut started.
I ended up injecting glue into the plys and using a nut and bolt first to crush it back together.

Plays great now.

- Solder (just a dab) old guitar strings to the pot shafts instead of fiddling with fishing wire.
- Label both ends so you always know what you're working on.
- Leave extra space between components on the wiring loom to be safe.
- Do not (DO NOT) work on more than one component at a time

The rest is just patience and a dentist mirror.

Apologies everyone, I think I linked the wrong video earlier. There's still some pickup frustration in the one I linked but I think the actual "losing his mind on camera" video is this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Out2LP6Tafc

Not quite an hour and three minutes, but a solid fifty five minutes isn't bad. I've watched a few parts of this video and yep it's definitely this one.
