I kinda liked what little I played of Mask of the Rose. But I agree, there's not enough drat time and the characters/plot aren't nearly fleshed out enough. I romanced two of them basically by accident.

There's a really good game in there somewhere though.

I'm going to do a bigger write up and comparison in the VN thread but while Mask of the Rose had the potential to be a great game and wasn't, Harmony is an actual good game with a lot to recommend (far from perfect but satisfying to play through).

Nice! Keep it up. There's a whole lot to like in the game. Art, story, characters, general vibe are very strong imo. It can just feel a little vague what you are actually accomplishing, and what should be prioritized. I sank a big chunk of the long weekend so far into BattleBit. I never got too deep into the Battlefield series, but this one is a no-brainer at $15. US vs Russia is a bit off-putting due to the war in Ukraine, but development began years before the invasion, and the devs are in Turkey, so I don't think I gave my money to a bunch of Putinistas. The community so far doesn't seem any more immature or edgelordy than any other military FPS, and they do have a quite explicit anti-bigotry policy that seems to be enforced.

The vehicles handle well as long as the drivers know what they're doing, although piloting a helicopter with WASD + mouse is probably always going to be a bit zany. The destructible buildings definitely change the flow of the map as time goes on, a building that may have provided a secure hide at the start of the map quickly becomes something rushed through and rapidly cleared. The house to house fighting on some of the maps gets really intense, and you'd better be ready to die in a zerg rush. Coming over from something like CounterStrike, the medium range rifles can reach out pretty far, and there have been a couple times where I was effectively able to play medic and support a team of snipers with just an AK.

The one big flaw, and I can't tell if it's an intentional design decision, is that there's no minimap on the HUD. That makes it hard to call out directions, and everybody just tends to randomly rush in the direction of the next objective marker to pop up on screen. I didn't figure out the interface for handling squads right away, either, and I don't think most people did, as they tend to stay with the auto-assigned squad rather than grouping up more intentionally.

Have to agree about the moderation, I've seen a bunch of people banned for saying awful poo poo that would fly on other games.

The lack of minimap confused and frustrated me too. I've had some amazing moment in the game, building up some rooftop FOBs on urban maps and fending off the enemy hoardes while teammates explode around me.

I thought the demo was great. In the real world the game is in first person, and the deal is you go in to books (top down perspective) to get items (part of the story). You can go in and out and solve puzzles from stuff you bring in to the book. The demo just had the first mission and I thought the whole presentation was really clever and interesting.

After playing it for a bit it's actually much more of a Marsrunner than a Mars Stranding. It's all about building different transporters to carry weirdly shaped cargo. It has very satisfying controls and servo sounds, and also the missions are much more interesting and enjoyable to me than other sandboxy building games where you have to make your own fun.

I've just played through the first case, and it feels pretty solid to me as an Ace Attorney-like. The characters are fun, the art is nice, the soundtrack is jazzy and packs a punch when it needs to. The script could use some proofreading, though, there have been some typos/missing words/grammar issues in parts but nothing that hurts the readability. I'm having a good time!
