YOU CAN FLY!!!
All of season 2 of The Lake is up on Amazon Prime. Not a superb show, but definitely the definition of cozy, trying to go for a Schitt's Creek vibe. Starring Jordan Gervaris from Orphan Black, Julia Stiles from Julia Stiles fame, and Terry Chen from The Expanse. It's about a gay man who tries to reconnect with his daughter, who was conceived from a high school relationship, at his family's lakehouse in Ontario that he discovers was left to his step sister after his parents deaths.

Yeah the first season of this was really fun. Basically just a small town comedy with summer camp vibes in the vein of a loooot of Canadian sitcoms, but good stuff. Keen to start the second season after I finish exams.

Renfield was shockingly sloppy. The scene inside the weirdo mob torture chamber struck me as odd because I saw the set up and the execution didn’t even attempt it, because there’s this guy being tortured and they barely acknowledge it

Then I saw this deleted scene and it was exactly what it should’ve been so I’m not sure what happened with the movie

On mobile so go to the second scene

My favorite part was when Aquafina was looking for clues and she says off screen she’s looking for clues.

Or when they go into the gearing up montage for the final battle and she says she needs to gear up for the final battle

It's absolutely a movie to be seen in theaters. Paramount could re-release it at any time for a week or two and it would do amazing numbers.

I'm like a year late on this, but Pachinko is *so good*. I loved the book, but this is like the perfect adaptation and as a standalone product it's just fantastic. I can't believe it didn't win a boatload of awards.

For real if you're a James Cameron fan at all I feel like it's a must watch, it's like he took all the technical skills learned from each of his movies and crammed them all into this 3.5 hour cartoon, it's wild

In 2020, we're going to make the end of Fight Club real.
Renfield was dumb fun. My partner and I liked it anyway. Nice to see over-the-top action that isn’t self-serious John Wick tactical realism poo poo IMO.

When your characters are commentating on the plot repeating itself yoi know you hosed up somewhere. Brutally punishing watch in length. Great visuals but absolutely would not see it again

The Way of Water is loving terrible and it’s really only pretty if there aren’t any actual humans onscreen. Every time it had some kind of composited shot with real actors it looked like a mid-tier video game.

There’s way better ways to spend 3.5 hours of your time.

The length of Avatar 2 is by far the worst part. That final battle + aftermath is interminable. I liked it better than the first one but that’s not a great feat. I begrudgingly will admit some aspects of it are OK but that’s mainly an indictment of other movies. “Being able to follow the action” shouldn’t be the drat exception.

This is a good summary of what it is. The kind of "veep but if she's a pop star" could be an interesting show. The rest of the show is completely unwatchable. Way worse than anything in Euphoria.

Secretly force socialism, communism and imperialism types of government onto the people of the United States of America.

Overall, I enjoyed Way of Water, warts and all, with the single glaring exception being the roided out literal 14 year old running around in a diaper and gasmask for the majority of the film (this is not an insult to the actor, I'm sure it was a grueling process, but it was a terrible creative decision).
