I checked and cage match has Swole in 45 AEW matches, about 5 of them were over 10 minutes and of those 2 of them were tag matches.

The AEW roster is much much better today than it was early on but Swole, Janela and especially Marko were barely used in 2021 and 2021 was a really great year.

I don't miss many of the people who have left AEW but I kinda miss Janela. He had unique energy and slotted in well as a midcard guy who had credibility but could eat a loss. It's unfortunate he was simply too strong for Eddie's weak weak bones.

For what it's worth the tweeter quickly amended his tweet to say he was talking about 2020, not 2021. Which makes sense since the very specific things mentioned (as opposed to 'wrestlers existing') all happened in 2020: - Ivelisse's last TV appearance was December 2020 and her Thunder Rosa matches were in September 2020 - Matt Sydal's slippery debut was All Out 2020 - Joey Janela's final PPV appearance was the ladder match at Double or Nothing 2020 It doesn't change whether anyone should or should not enjoy any of these things, but it does sort of change things in the sense of in 2020, AEW was still (mostly) in its first year of television and dealing with lockdowns and the early days of the pandemic, and had not yet fully reaped the bounty of WWE releasing a billion people. 2021 saw AEW signing CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish, Ethan Page, Christian Cage, Wheeler Yuta, Malakai Black, Andrade, 2point0, Daniel Garcia, Jay Lethal, Lee Moriarty, Ruby Soho, and Jamie Hayter, at least some of those coinciding with "we're back to actually touring and can afford to sign some big names" so it's not surprising that in general the overall star power/show quality improved and some of the people featured more early on were phased out. February 2021 was also when the NJPW relationship was formalized so you started getting all of those guys coming in too.

Honestly I really liked 2020 AEW quite a bit, the feud between Mr. Brodie Lee and Jon Moxley was delightful, as was all the lore that was built out of them literally having an entire arena to themselves every week for a year.
