I think the former? Like he maybe broke the "core" of the Phoenix leading to the explosion. That actually makes the Phoenix coming back seem more likely, since it seems like it exploded after being impaled by Ifrit's arm, and "Phoenix exploding" seems like the sort of thing they revive from.

That also seems like it wouldn't be practical since new Dominants would still pop up elsewhere after the current ones died, and it only takes one to gently caress up the balance of power and lead to mass destruction.

I was not expecting the UI to be the part of this game that I hate. They got all this negative space on screen at all times, but they won't spend a single pixel of it on increasing the font size? I can read it, but it's the principle of the thing. HDTV has been a thing for 20 years, and developers are still loving this up? gently caress you! Does this demo have a feedback form?

People are predicting stuff like ancient futuristic civilisations and stuff but I think the devs have said they wanted to get away from the 'everything is Allagans' of FF14 and the way they had a scifi super-civilisation that did stuff like make space satellites that contain eikons. There's definitely some ancient civilisations floating around though, based on the location that Ifrit and Phoenix fought.

Thanks. Game rules; all the control schemes feel a little unintuitive in parts, but the default was starting to click by the end. It feels like the endgame builds are going to be absolutely nuts, and I hope the game maintains coherence once you’re zipping around in a constant state of fiery midair explosive attack

Enjoyed the demo. I have some quibbles here and there, but nothing serious. I do wonder how to tell my ranking after a battle? Did I just miss that? Also, the default control scheme feels weird and wrong. Gonna try the other setups when I get off work. I hear style B puts dodge on O, which is my biggest complaint. Never played a DMC style game before. So much stuff I'm reading about is complete Greek to me. None of the accessories really help, I just don't understand combos and how to find them or know when to use what. Dodging, parries, and how to get magic burst is simple enough, I wanna know how some people are getting these huge combos going and getting massive airtime. I guess I should play it less like a Souls game lol On story stuff: I really hope Clive isn't actually Ifrit when Joshua dies. That honestly feels a little too grim for grimness' sake. I think it'd be fine if Joshua is secretly alive, though? And he is the Phoenix... I just like the little dude, he's great. I do really like most of the characters. The Duchess is properly hateable, Benedikta seems like a solid antagonist as well. Most of this is too early yet, but it really feels very well done. I just hope the occasional theory I've seen that this is set in the XIV universe doesn't come to pass, but luckily that seems like it's mostly driven by people wanting to see Ascians in every hooded dude.
