gio reyna got 122 minutes in the last 8 matches for dortmund pulisic has struggled to get off the bench at chelsea under like 12 different managers mckennie, aaronson, and adams just got relegated (yes adams was hurt) dest has struggled for minutes in 2 places and is basically clubless atm pepi did nothing in germany, has done well since moving though chris richards minutes have been spotty at palace turner is a backup, steffen was sent to the championship weah has had a fine season in ligue 1 though had no goals and just 2 assists musah and now balogun are basically the only 2 of the young talented players who actually had good club seasons in a big 5 league (and in musah's case Valencia nearly got relegated too..) IMO the basic problem of the berhalter hate is US fans are convinced all these dudes are really good already. Many of them are possibly on the brink of being really good, but nothing about their club performance suggests Berhalter is failing to get the best out of them. If anything, some such as Pulisic consistently overperform with the U.S. relative to their club. If you look at the previous cycle as Berhalter basically building and taking a u23 team (with a couple patches like tim ream) to the world cup knockouts while collecting both regional trophies and re-establishing supremacy over Mexico, its really difficult to say that he didn't do a good job. I know people want the big name manager, and we know USSF called Zidane and he said thanks no thanks - i'd guess they called all the other obvious options too. But Berhalter did a good job and the actual real alternative options were people like Jesse Marsch and Patrick Viera, both of whom have been sacked multiple times by clubs that were performing poorly. I think there is a non-zero chance someone like Pep decides to take on the challenge in 2025 and USSF should obviously keep that door open, but right now Berhalter is the best guy for the job.
