The G-shock square (5610??) is already basically the perfect watch for like $120 it has solar, multiband 6 time sync, adjustable light time, stopwatch, 200m water resistance, you can basically bang it off a rock face and it’s fine (I’ve done it)

and yet I bought the 40th anniversary model which is objectively worse and 3x the price because ???

we monitor many frequencies. we listen always. came a voice, out of the babel of tongues, speaking to us. it played us a mighty dub.
it turns out you can just rotate the polarizer 90° and charge extra

I have polarizer lenses for most of my webcams for streaming, because the monitor reflection on my glasses is hella distracting. since by definition all LCDs are throwing polarized light, you can just rotate the lens till the reflections disappear like maaaagic. it's cool

oh, yeah, those are cool but i've never had a watch with a display like that. i'm sure it's fine, but i don't really see the point other than aesthetics. contrast is the same either way

sorry, i thought you were talking about just two filters together blocking light. adding the third one is what makes it really strange imo

it's one of those great physical things that isn't immediately intuitive, and seems like it shouldn't work, but it does

if you are an eight year old playing with some filters you pulled out of old calculators and you stumble upon this, it feels like you just hacked the universe
