Total fuckin' silence.
Am I right in thinking that a Fox News guy got really pissy about that gimmick? That was probably the best thing to come out of it if so.

I do remember there being a really awkward "This is not kayfabe, this is us, the people behind the characters talking to you" apology video.

Glenn Beck did I know. There was a whole thing where they invited him to come on Raw and debate Dutch lol

Pfft. Brody isn't 3 years old. And if Dante would lie about that, what other questions did he lie about eh? Eh?

I bet he loves ice cream more than we might suspect.

Adore the idea Brody wanders around his house muttering to himself about what a good wrestler he is

It was impressive how much that worked to stop people chanting it.

That was in the early days of AEW too, IIRC. I think that kind of helped people realize that AEW was not going to just be another WWE-lite kind of wrestling fed.

has Dutch unironically engaged in the xenophobic bit online, or is his passion more for the other, more domestic -phobias

Pretty sure he got into it about politics with MRT at least once

You're most likely correct. Hager appeared at the end of the first episode of Dynamite when the Inner Circle was formed. He was then most likely officially introduced on the second so I'd assume that it was then when it happened.

Thinking about it, there aren't many things that have carried over that weren't WWE creations. Danielson only gets Yes'd during kick spots. Cole was doing the Bay Bay thing before WWE. Miro doesn't get Rusev/Miro Day chants. They all feel like their own thing.

Possibly my favorite part of the Ironman match with MJF was at the very end where Bryan was leading the crowd in the Yes chant while trapped in the crossface - as far as I can remember that was the first time in his AEW tenure he'd ever done so and he absolutely made it feel as though he'd fight his way free and win...which, of course, made it perfectly devastating when he tapped out.

tbh I think the Boom was specifically a WWE thing, because Cole started doing it to the Undisputed Era theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3ayAysmd2U

It's also amazing how much better somebody can be when they don't clearly have <wait for crowd reaction> in their promos given to them.

Darby Allin could use that, honestly, he's pretty good on the mic but a few times recently he's done promos that are getting good reactions and he just steps on the pop in a really defensive way like he thinks the cheers are sarcastic.

In terms of cage dives it's not that crazy of dangerous of a spot it just probably sucks for both the person doing the move and the person taking the move

Rules for the person watching the move though, so as long as more than 2 people see it it’s a net positive

AJW stuff is way more intense and violent than I'd expected when I first started watching it. Like, a lot of modern wrestling can't compare to it. There's a weird visceral emotion in some of those big matches that's hard to find anywhere else.
