Im not a student of the natural sciences, aside from galvanics. But iirc folks in the thread said that the pressure from water rushing in would do crazy poo poo like compress and superheat the air while turning it to plasma. The dudes would get carbonized, crushed, then misted? I just want the inevitable low-budget horror film about this to have a guy making GBS threads by the viewport to be looking at a small crack form when suddenly a pin-hole sized spout cuts through his eye then spreads and cuts him with a blade of firewater. Maybe he can say "oh poo poo" or quip "is it supposed to do that" before Titan2c assplodes.

Maybe they self inflicted an implosion by crashing into an object after realizing they had no hope of a rescue

I blame the Titanic Captain. If he steered it a bit north, it would be on higher ground. So this wouldn't happen.

I keep looking at the pictures of the sub and imaging I'm a millionaire, out on a ship, getting ready to sub-dive, and then seeing that thing. My first thought would be, "WTF?! No loving way. Keep my money, I don't care, but there is no way in hell I'm going down in that thing." What's with all the exposed cabling on the top? A shark or tuna could bump into it and sever what I assume are cables essential to the sub's operation. I don't know anything about deep sea vessels but one glance at that thing is a big old, "Nope".

birds posted:Maybe they self inflicted an implosion by crashing into an object after realizing they had no hope of a rescue I was actually wondering what the possibility of this would be. Like if it would have been possible to use something sharp to hack through the interior lining and chip away enough of the carbon fiber resin to let the ocean do the rest.

Could it be that all the activity over there is attracting sharks? Like the vibrations from all the search and rescue boats makes them think there's a huge school of fish over there?

But again, who knows what a carbon fiber sub sounds like if it implodes.
