But if the devs are in Turkey, you could have given your money to a bunch of Erdoganists.

Given that, when Wagner were getting spicy the other day, a whole bunch of oligarchs' private jets filed flight plans to Turkey, I miggt reappraise that assessment.

Christ, no. And it wasn't how I meant it, which is my bad. But we should not derail further by carrying on the discussion. You have my apologies for bringing it up; let's move on.

Shogun Showdown is out on Tuesday, quite looking forward to that. The demo is up on Next Fest if you feel like giving it a shot.

I've just played through the first case, and it feels pretty solid to me as an Ace Attorney-like. The characters are fun, the art is nice, the soundtrack is jazzy and packs a punch when it needs to. The script could use some proofreading, though, there have been some typos/missing words/grammar issues in parts but nothing that hurts the readability. I'm having a good time!

As a fan of Ace Attorney games, and magic stuff this really caught my attention. But just how is magic integrated into game, what are the legal implications of someone under magical compulsion? Why doesn't the judge simply cast Zone of Truth?

The magic has very strict rules. Spells are all distinct and have very specific effects and it is possible to discover all the spells an individual knows how to cast. Magic doesn't just allow people to do literally anything. It's pretty clever.

Also it's a plot point that there isn't any magic that can affect the minds of others.

I don't like it when you're watching me eat.
Looking at the trailer, I know I hate the restaurant sim style games (Customer has a balloon over their head, timer starts, make their order before they get mad). How much of that is part of the gameplay of DTD?

It's about - eh, a quarter. You spend more time diving and fishing than you do serving in the restaurant, but it's not *not* there.

I'd say probably a little less than that overall, since there are so many other activities, plus as the game goes on you can dive deeper and longer so that minigame is like 5 to 15% further into the game.

Definitely a fun game. Maybe a little grindy, but I wouldn't let the restaurant thing bother me.

It's not too terrible and I hate those sorts of games, it's pretty forgiving in the 3 hours that I just played.

I'm absolutely loving this game, what a surprise hit for myself, fairly chill just shooting fish with harpoon shotguns and then making sushi out of them. I can't wait to see how it escalates.

I just hit chapter 4 and it feels like they have so many new mechanics that there's a different one every 30 minutes to an hour of gameplay. I keep wondering if there is every going to be a point where I just dive for fish 2-3 times in a day, get some good stuff, then sell it all at the bar for a crazy bag and blow it all on dive gear the next morning. There hasn't been a single day that didn't have some THING going on. It is starting to be exhausting.

I just finished up the DTD story yesterday, and yeah it never stops throwing new stuff at you. thats what ended up keeping me hooked, since my dives run long and it was easy to burn out on them. post-game is purely the core loop, though the devs have said they will be adding even more content in the future.
