Malakai is so fun to play, for me, a strike spammin rear end in a top hat E: I promise I will stop whining about CAW eventually but you can't actually materially alter existing wrestlers at all in terms of appearance. All you can do is put a t-shirt on them and change the colour of that shirt. I don't hate, tbh If anything it sounds kinda similar to the wrestling-themed battle royal game Rumbleverse which came out last fall and shut down about 6 months later. It was pretty fun but I guess didn't make enough money to stay alive.

rumbleverse was cool until you got hit by someone 10 feet away which happened every 10-20 seconds. i uninstalled and thought "i'll play more when they fix that" and then like 3 months later it was dead. so i guess they couldn't

i saw a headline saying stadium stampede was fight forever's battle royale mode and thought that was very weird when they could just have that and battle royals as well. but now i see that there was an e on the end of that word. i don't care about that but i hope it will have battle royals

Apparently it's a steam restriction, something like it being their first game on Steam means they can't do pre-orders? Or something? It is a bummer but at least it sounds like nL should be doing a stream tomorrow when it does go live for consoles.

When I had it downloading last week and it was partway through, it let me go into the game and play a very stripped down version where the only thing that was unlocked was a 1 on 1 match with only Kenny and Shida unlocked. If THQ had released that as a demo months ago so people could see how this thing plays I honestly feel there would be rabid interest in this game.

I think it's piqued the interest of some style of nerd anyway. A few people I talk to who are general wrestling fans, who play the WWE game, but don't have much time to actually watch wrestling have said they're really interested. There's been discussion about the limited storyline stuff, but as soon as that comes up others, in the same demographic, immediately talk about them focusing on the gameplay, and how it looks great. A few of the people who became interested in the game also watched AEW on TV for the first time in ages, and were really impressed (and I'm sure the hype around Forb tied into that.) Another group of people I hear talking about it, who aren't massive wrestling fans, are the type of people who have fond memories of wrestling games on the likes of the N64, and feel this might scratch the itch. It's a strange audience that's interested outside of AEW fans, but I think there's some buzz from a diverse range of people. And a lot of them are talking about pre-ordering it.

Really hope the steam version has remote play together. The latency would probably suck but I'm not expecting any of my friends to shell out $60 for this so it'd be nice to have a way to try multiplayer without them needing to buy it.
