kill la kill was truly awful. there was a lot of initial interest because the studio had a lot of the talent from tengen toppa gurren lagann, the fighting robot show that famously escalated until people were throwing galaxies at each other like shuriken, but they didn't have anywhere near the budget or the planning so on top of the horniness everything was paper-cutout stiff and the plot seemed to be making itself up as it went good soundtrack though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRI5uW6DLXg

It was never a tasteful show, obviously, but that kind of series could never do anything good with that kind of plot point, and it did not.
