I checked out the Pluto TV Godzilla channel (protip it's under movies and not anime+gaming with the other geek stuff) and it's pretty cool. They are currently showing Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 subtitled and in HD. Hopefully that means everything else gets the same treatment

Return of Ultraman is a favorite of mine, a great 1st episode that goes into a cool mini-arc, they really blow out the first few episodes with monsters and city smashing. Spoilers for how Hideki Go becomes Ultraman: He's a racecar driver/daredevil who runs up like 10 flights of stairs to save a kid during a monster attack, helps the kid release all his pet pigeons from the roof before running away, and then also rescues a tied up dog before the monsters bury him in rubble. He covers the kid and dog with his body, saving them at the expense of his life, so this series' Ultraman revives him for his bravery!

Hopefully that means everything else gets the same treatment I’m gutted this isn’t on UK Pluto tv, I had a look at the American Pluto via VPN on my laptop and it’s leagues better than what we get, at least I can still enjoy Catfish as background noice but I wanted Godzilla

ok well Godzilla 2000 is on the Pluto channel now and it's dubbed, looks like they use the dub if they have one? I dunno, guess we'll see when they do some Showa flicks on that note I saw Mothra Rebirth 2 and 3 the other day and those were...movies. a lot of very poorly composited tiny women flying around, clearly more kid oriented than the typical kaiju stuff. very cool that they were airing at all though!

They all started with Criterion Janus logo at the beginning so I figure any of the films from the Criterion showa box are going to be on here subbed.

American version tightened both of those up quite a bit. I prefer the dubbed version of Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster for similar reasons, but the differences are a lot less noticeable there.

I feel like Japanese Godzilla always sounds better because they keep some of the original Godzilla roar sounds in there where as the American versions always are just a variation on the Spielberg T-Rex roar.
