It's just Tony personally buying the tickets and when he can't find anyone to take them, there will definitely be egg on his face!!!!

it's a big failure if you sell out 90k seats but only 88k show up because of emergencies, illness, or mistakes. that's why wwe counts every single person in the building before doing their announcements, and they don't just announce seats sold + 12% of the total capacity.

Eh, I don’t really buy it. I think that verbiage made complete since for the story that they were telling; it was relevant.

The narrative that he hated everyone from WCW is likely to be untrue. There are a number of people that came from WCW that transitioned to WWE that achieved success and had long careers there. Triple H, Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Booker T, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, Stacy Keibler, Torrie Wilson to name a few - they were all employees for WCW.

I think this is reaching for something that confirms a narrative that people want to be true. Most people legitimately want to believe that he’s this heartless, evil person and they’ll look for anything that aligns with that. Truth is: Very few people truly know who he is. And everyone will have a different perspective and experience with him - some will be positive and some negative. As is the case for us all.

Always remember that the former President was dumber than the dumbest person you've ever met by a wide margin

I've already seen people online claim that you need to combine both nights of Wrestlemania to get the total attendance for the show, they're absolutely going to pivot to "WCW ran Collision in Korea and now we own WCW so we still have the record" if need be.

Or WWE will just run another state-mandated show, I could see Saudi Arabia wanting to set a new record like that.

This has been somewhat annoying me all day:
A lot of these guys JR pushed for their signing. Vince didn't understand Mick Foley's promos in ECW at all and JR just kept fighting for him. On top of that, since Foley was a former WCW guy he asked for a guaranteed contract and was told they didn't do that. Then a few weeks later Mero gets one.
Austin was given a manager and didn't cut a promo for most of his time as "The Ringmaster"
Jericho, Eddie and Benoit were all big time guys who WCW couldn't push into the main event scene cause of the old guys.
Triple H was a Saturday Night/Pro/Main Event guy who most people wouldn't even consider a WCW guy.

For every one success story of guys who jumped from WCW to WWE, it feels like you can point out 3 WCW guys who were maybe given 1 chance, didn't immediately get over, and were dumped down the card.

And even if Vince didn't have them booked horribly, they still had to hope they didn't get on the wrong side of the WWE lifers like Taker. There was no reason a guy like Booker who had all the skill and charisma in the world basically had to work his way back up the card.

Earth-1145 is truly the best!
A world of singing, magic frogs,
high adventure, no shitposters
There is also a big difference with 90% of everyone on that list in that they all were in WCW while it was in direct competition with WWF, and made the choice* to come to WWF. Willingly joining "the good guys" (WWF in Vince's mind) probably strikes him as a very different thing than being a "loser" after WCW collapsed coming around looking for a job, and I think that difference bears out on how the vast majority of people signed to WCW in March 2001 were handled.

There were some relative success stories outside of that list like all of the people who seem to have backstage jobs more or less for life (Kidman, Noble, Finlay) but ignoring the pre-2001 jumpers the list is:
1. Two very over, talented wrestlers who had good careers but also put up with some terrible and/or racist poo poo to get there
2. Two very attractive blonde ladies that Vince booked to make out with him and get into lingerie fights for the right to be on the cover of Playboy

And then dozens upon dozens of people who were treated on a "0-1 strikes and you're out!" policy for being on The Losing Side.

* Austin was fired from WCW but I believe everyone else let their contract expire.
