theres a pretty cool south korean movie called red shoes and the seven dwarfs thats interesting because its a fairy tale pastiche but its a pastiche of the actual original fairy tales not the disneyfied versions one way you can tell is because hardly anyone in the west knows the red shoes fairy tale because theres no disney movie about it the studio was able to get the korean guy who was the character designer for frozen to do it basically by telling him you can design like dozens of characters which he was really into because by that point disney wasnt even designing new characters anymore so he didnt have much to do anywayBig Bad Idiot posted:The american admiration of the british royal family is a consequence of us being fed fairytales of royals for almost a century by the disney corp i bring it up because this comment made me realize that our whole perception of fairy tales has royalist propaganda hard baked into the concept even though im not sure red shoes and the seven dwarfs has any royal characters at all despite it incorporating the elements of like a dozen completely different fairy tales
