so probably not the one run by Meta, got it.

on the one hand, that's definitely indicative that the epic bell-cow back is an endangered species, and probably says something about offenses looking more to pass. on the other hand, probably some more running back by committee...would be curious to see team totals as well to see if those are similarly coming down, or if they're flat but the load is getting spread out (especially with more QBs running too).

but yeah, the running back doing cool stuff really is an endangered and undervalued species :smith:

I think there’s a fair amount of workload management and running back committees and if I get bored later today I might try to run some numbers.

Plus that looks like rush yards only and I suspect without looking at data that receptions by RBs are up significantly.

Kayak is true
Big XII media picked their preseason rankings today:

pre:
2023 Big 12 Football Media Preseason Poll
1. Texas (41), 886
2. Kansas State (14), 858
3. Oklahoma (4), 758
4. Texas Tech (4), 729
5. TCU (3), 727
6. Baylor, 572
7. Oklahoma State (1), 470
8. UCF, 463
9. Kansas, 461
10. Iowa State, 334
11. BYU, 318
12. Houston, 215
13. Cincinnati, 202
14. West Virginia, 129
Tech with a little bit of a darkhorse aspect going on. Feels kinda odd to be a popular overperform pick.

Texas and K-State #1 and #2 in most polls. TCU falls all the way to 5 in polling: they lost most their offense, will be starting fresh. Big transfer class, though.

They were the only Big 12 team Iowa State beat last year, so they must be pretty bad. Almost surprised to see ISU as high as 10 considering how bad they were in 2022, but they should be better this year. 2022 saw tons of turnover at O and D, so we should be starting people with a little experience this time.

New QB too; at least Donovan Smith has experience in the Big 12. There's a few good transfers coming in it but overall there's just not enough size on the roster yet to expect more than six wins. Honestly this year is about celebrating getting in the Big 12, and 100% about the Texas game.

I'm not a guy who knows WVU but from what I do know the outlook seems rough.

There are administrational things going on here beside the football (or basketball) program that are no bueno.

Don't hire Gordon Gee and his bow tie seems to be my takeaway. There's a lot of stuff that is not good going on over there and Bob Huggins isn't the problem in the larger point of view. I mean he had to go away, but that isn't the problem for the AD, there's more stuff going on.
