BearsBearsBears posted:I doubt it, Leopard 1s are acknowledged as being old tanks. They were made before NATO figured out how to use composite armor so their design skimped on the armor in favor of speed since it was thought that you couldn't stop contemporary HEAT. I'm not sure if these ones were retrofitted with composite armor, NATO tends to be reluctant to do that for some reason. Granted, I don’t know if the Leo1s being death traps is a reason to hold them back, they may be waiting for enough volunteers to get trained to actually use them. That said, it is essentially upgraded APC equivalent armor. The West has composite armor, most of their tanks now have it, it was just they were ironically behind the Soviets quite a bit and the West hasn’t adopted ERA to the same degree either. They may be holding them back for a variety of reasons, it may be a training issue, a ammo issue (remember that radioactive depot, or simply they may not want to keep them taken out as easily as some Leo2s (they will probably far as poorly or worse). That said, the Ukrainians are going to need some forces with training and equipment at a certain point their current force being eaten by attrition and the conscripts are just there as padding.

orly posted:Are there any video games where you can directly drive an artillery piece around and do indirect fire? Technically you can in DCS, but it's a very simplistic implementation and usually you do it as a game master or something rather than playing as a first-person artillery operator. In Hell Let Loose, the artillery is stationary, but you actually plug in radians and mils to fire, using your teammates as spotters. Trolls like to shoot their own team repeatedly or expend all the ammo resources by shooting the gun nonstop!
