My interest in politoons began in my high school history class. where the teacher would often start classes by slapping a handful of historical cartoons related to whatever event we were currently talking about on the overhead projector and discussing them with the class. So where does the debt celling come into this? Does this mean allowing more comets will delay the volcanoes? It better not!! I'll cut you!!!

Oh right! I genuinely thought that was supposed to be a simmering volcano. So the default (which didn't happen) missed them and harmlessly splattered into the ground doing nothing, and national debt is the true threat. That might be even worse.

So not only is it necessary to correct ingrained biases, it will absolutely not hurt us to do so.

See also: the endless anecdotes posted online of right wingers getting passed up for a promotion/hire/tuition application for a minority candidate and then inventing a story to tell everyone where the interviewer/admissions officer pulled them aside and breached all ethics and policies by explicitly telling them this was purely an affirmative action thing and then showed them the other person's resume/test scores, which were bad. MacArthur’s main problem was that he kept expanding the targets he wanted to bomb despite repeated warnings from the White House to cut it out lest he drag the Soviet Union into the war, to which MacArthur tried to say “gently caress you I do what I want” until the President called him home to fire him.
