These first seven are unequivocally my favorites, this is roughly ordered champagne problems Enchanted Style right where you left me Long Live tis the drat season You Belong With Me After that there’s a whole bunch that move up and down depending on the day and mood mirrorball Mine august the 1 Forever and Always Love Story I Think He Knows It’s Nice to Have a Friend Wildest Dreams New Romantics Delicate Call It What You Want Don’t Blame Me Karma Bejeweled Lavender Haze Illicit affairs marjorie gold rush betty Mean State of Grace Red Holy Ground dorothea tolerate it peace Better Man TV But this is missing the tearjerkers it’s hard to listen to regularly (Ronan, Soon You’ll Get Better, Epiphany) and a whole bunch more that are still bops. That’s the thing about her discography is that fully 50% of the songs she’s put out could be on someone’s list without me flinching and another 25% with even just a little explaining. There are a few that would make me genuinely question a person’s taste (Innocent, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, ME!, London Boy) but she’s generally incredibly consistent.

I was a little worried because I enjoy the original Speak Now so much, but just about every song on Taylor's Version had some weird decision that got me to visibly react. The guitars on The Story of Us were, almost physically painful to listen to.

Fair point tbh. I also agree with whoever mentioned the weird guitar tones in The Story of Us. And I still can’t get over making the guitar so loud in Enchanted. I mostly like it but the things I don’t like stick out so so much.

I’d like to take a second to share something remarkable: This month we had two debut albums from male pop artists who aren’t just Assholes With Guitars Dominic Fike has been around a minute, he’s released a bunch of good to great singles (including 3 Nights and Photo ID w/Remi Wolf) but he’s finally taken the time to make a whole-rear end album. He’s very genrefluid with elements of hip-hop, rock and pop but he has a Weezer feature that sounds more like Pinkerton than anything Weezer has done in the last couple decades, which is an album standout IMO. (I just looked it up this isn’t actually his debut but the first album came out in July 2020 so it basically doesn’t count) https://youtu.be/TTaqh4yYW28 Glaive started making music as a bored high schooler during the pandemic and now is dropping a whole record. He’s really grown as a songwriter; his early singles are incredibly “snotty bored teenage boy”-core but this has a lot more variety and feels less douchey and more in touch with his emotions even as his brain is still full of bullshit (the first track is called , but it still has his signature sound, which is this incredibly overproduced (in a good way) hyperpop-rock mash with hella layered vocals.
