Is that the Pro 2 or is there a more recent one? I've been using the Pro 2 for a while and it's dang good. Dpad could be better but it's certainly not bad, it's just not as good as the best dpads I've used.

8bitdo controllers got really confusing names, but the one I meant was this https://www.8bitdo.com/ultimate-2.4g-wireless-controller/. Note that there is a Bluetooth version as well that has a Switch layout and a wired version,I don't think the wired version has Hall Effect joysticks.

I use the Pro 2 for retro stuff and it's pretty good, not the best at anything, but good over all I'd say.

Hell yeah. I've fallen away from the series a bit after not liking CS 3 and 4 very much, but I hear this one's supposed to be really good. I'm excited.

I've been meaning to get a new controller for PC because my PowerA's left stick is getting a few dead zones, but it works fine enough as is that I haven't found a good enough deal to jump on.

I've got a weird request. I have some minor hand disability that makes certain movements and actions difficult.

Previously I have been using autohotkey to create a script whereby if I hold the back thumb button on my mouse and hit the keys 1, 2, 3, or 4, on my keyboard it translates those key presses to their numpad equivalent. This let me basically get two bindings out of the easily accessible 1,2,3,4 keys right above my hand when using wasd.

However a game I have been playing now bans for auto hotkey usage, due to its ability to support recoil macros and all sorts of other unfair things.

Does anyone know of a program that can basically let me bind a mouse thumb button to act as a pseudo g-shift key that can then intercept and modify my keyboard inputs to convert them to some other input?

You can't do this through the mouse app, right? I wanted to do something similar when I first play around with G Shift in the G HUB, but I think it doesn't let you affect keyboard buttons (or not all of them).

i can't speak from experience, but there's a number of gaming mice out there with programmable buttons as a core feature that you could use to set up macros. can't speak to if their software is detectable/banned or not in that specific game, but that's probably your best bet as far as macros go

benny was like the cutest dog in existence. criminally cute. no one dog should have that much power. i didn't start watching max's stream until last year or so, so i didn't get to see him very much but hearing about his passing was still heartbreaking.

the model they made of him for Naraka is actually really impressive technically. i might check the game out next week when it goes free to play. because yes i am that bored

Its not really macros I need. I just need to be able to hold a button to act as a modifier that will then transform keyboard presses. I have ~4-5 keys I need transformed, but a macro is generally just "Hit these buttons in order" which isn't what I need here.

does your game have additional context keys as part of its settings? you can definitely set one of the mouse buttons to simulate, say, shift or alt, so you can have separate alt + 1, alt + 2, etc. bindings in game and then bind alt to one of your mouse buttons

Unfortunately the game I am playing does not allow combos, this would have made it a thousand times easier. But it only allows on key press per bind. So I cannot have an action bound to a modifier + key press...

you have poo poo like Tomestones of Poetics/Mendacity/Comedy/Goetia/Phantasmagoria/Genesis/Lore/Soldiery/Philosophy/Allegory/Revelation etc.

that's a bummer, and probably not anything a macro'd mouse could help with, unless there's some capability on programmable keyboards to implement custom button combinations so that you could set up your own context keys

only other suggestion i'd have is to look into MMO mice, which usually have some combination of 8-12 buttons on the thumb side that you could use if reaching for keys is challenging on your keyboard hand. you could also try switching to a deeper in keyboard setup (e.g. RDFG), which will give you more button access without the need of context keys

i'm assuming either CSGO or valorant, since a major part of their core mechanics is the spray patterns of guns (where the gun's recoil will cause the barrel to swing in a predictable per-gun pattern), and AHK can theoretically overcome that by inputting a countermovement on the mouse that follows the pattern exactly to essentially eliminate recoil entirely

Myst is mostly remembered for its first game cause it was so absurdly, wildly popular and was a huge driver of CD-ROM sales, but don't sleep on the sequels. Riven, Myst III, and Myst IV are all excellent. (Myst V is bad though)
