Got a grand champion whose knees are literally kindling strapped with C4 and a litany of young talent who have ACL tears that will probably cut their careers short by 5-10 years each.

A take that I saw elsewhere, and I'm pretty sure has been mentioned here would be to just go down to five Basho, and cut out the July Basho as the hottest part of the year.

Seeing the injuries pile up, especially with Kirishima (won a Yusho, had an abscess, gets promoted to Ozeki and now likely Kyujo for this basho), and Terunofuji and his knees of paper/diabetes affecting his ability.

Like, I don't think going to five will be a magic bullet but it would at least give some more rest time, but as Vargatron said, the entire sport of sumo (and by extension any fighting) just brutalizes your body.

Since our co-yusho winners were both top-ranked ozeki, very little has changed up there, except for kyujo Skortje dropping. Ice Phisherman is now on a pretty strong ozeki run, and could make a go at the title. Ex-goonzeki GoatSeeGuy has gotten up to sekiwake, while NuclearPotato has made it into komusubi with a strong score from the top of the rank-and-file.

The makuuchi-juryo exchange is frankly too big for me to list at this point, lots of movement in between divisions, partly the result of lots of low scores in the bottom of the division. Juryo yusho winner Gaghskull is up at J1e, and could make it up to the top division easily this basho. Otherwise, the goonzuke largely speaks for itself.
