moths posted:I'm kinda expecting a Dire Wolf upgrade sprue like the ones that makes your Marines into Iron Hands or Black Templars. The Dire Wolf is too divergent from the Warhound kit for an upgrade sprue to work. At least the resin version is anyway. Differences in the skeleton as well as the armour. I assume the main balancing factors to avoid too many titans will be a combination of cost per unit relative to army size for titans, and a hard mechanism to win by holding objectives with infantry. You could also see titans limited by their scale (a stat from AT) depending on the points bracket. So in the smallest games you could only get knights, and Warlords wouldn't appear until you're in the 2,500 bracket. Ristolaz posted:Dang, I just got the AT starter box after epic 30k was announced hoping that it would be compatible (and I'm pumped that it is) but I also got 2 extra warhounds and I wish I waited to get these instead Warhounds are great in AT, and you can make a valid maniple using 4 Warhounds & 2 Dire Wolfs, well one Dire Wolf would be an auxilary so not part of the maniple but whatever. So you've not wasted the money if you intend to play AT at all. And you should, it's the best game GW have ever released. The terminal will be in the box. Probably a flimsy card print that you'd want to laminate, but that's how they do it with the Warbringer kit, and how it was with the resin Dire Wolf. Plus GW confirmed that bases are 25mm. I also firmly believe he's not measuring correctly, but it is close enough to be a good guess. Another factor is that 6mm and 8mm are to eye level. So people freaking out that HH Terms are 10mm does not mean it is actually 10mm. GW says marines are 8mm at eye level, baseline humans are more like 7mm, that certainly seems to be true. But also, who cares? I play with my og 90s Eldar, which calling 6mm is very generous, but also play with my very modern chaos marines where some stuff I have is actually 10mm. As long as your base size is correct you will be fine. I personally like my individual armies to all be of one scale, but I don't care that some are 6mm, and some are 8mm.

In Epic Armageddon at least an all-titan force is really challenging because while your units are really shooty and very hard to kill, they're not as shooty as the equivalent points value of troops or tanks, you're always super behind on activation count, and most importantly you have a real hard time controlling the board and capturing objectives.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a rule saying that units within X range of a titan are within the voids as well, so small units in buildings, and tanks in tight packed streets may make it a lot harder for titans to dominate as they do in AT's ghost towns. What I'm saying is I want the Titan Hunter Infantry stratagem to become common fighting.

Putting together a quick and dirty Tactical Marine KT: Sergeant Roster: 1) Combi Weapon, Power Sword 2) Bolt Pistol (may be able to sub this for grav? I’ll have to check my bitz) Gunner Roster: 1) Missile Launcher 2) Heavy Bolter Specialist: 1) Plasma 2) Flamer 3) Grav and 3 Bolters Question: I’m mostly going to be playing against Intercessors, so would going with Grav be a better option than Plasma?

Professor Shark posted:Putting together a quick and dirty Tactical Marine KT: Plasma pistol is pretty much the only choice of ranged weapon for the sgt. The limited rule on the combi hurts. Limited combis are a large part of why compendium SM are so bad. The melee is a matter of taste. Power fist is much better for punching a marine clean off of a point, but kind of a one-use bomb. Power weapon has less output but is more consistent and better on the defensive. Plasma on the gunner. There's basically no occasion to bring the others. Melta is too short-ranged for too little benefit over hot plasma, flamers are never worth it on almost any target compared to 3+ plasma, and grav is only better than cool plasma against marines. HB vs ML is a taste thing, because HBs can double shoot. Always take suspensors ofc.

I am about to play my first game of Kill Team tonight. I think I'm comfortable enough the rules to have a good time and I'm pretty excited. We are just going to run a basic game from the Into the Dark box. One question: am I stuck printing or writing my own data cards for the units? Should I just play with the books and Wahapedia open nearby?sasha_d3ath posted:My opponent was Kharadron, and them even being playable in Warcry is frustrating because they have insanely high toughness, HP, AND guns that deal an insane amount of damage at a range of literally over 50% of the board. I lost because the objective was positioning based and I forgot to mention that many Kharadron can fly and I was piddly lil 3-inch-at-a-time undead. As I said, it was close, but it would have been hilariously one-sided if not for the ash cloud reducing all of his abilities and whatnot to 3 inches. I'd love to know more about this too. I think Warcry is outstanding and wish I played enough to give some advice here.

It's dumb that they're not just retconning a bunch of the Guard planes to be SA. (Wow that's an unfortunate acronym.) They've got a big AAA 40K video game where you see a Valkyrie all the time. (Then again, you can't buy Chaos ogryn at any scale.)

Unfortunately Kill Team poorly equips the players for the incidentals of actual play, and lacks conveniences like unit data cards. On which you could also place order tokens and damage markers to avoid the board-cluttering silliness of moving chits and dice around with the models to which they are assigned. I plan on crafting my own data cards.

Just played my second evening of kill team - we played through three of the missions from the starter kit, and it was tons of fun. It's a little hard to gauge how things go when you're not playing with command points or most of your special rules, but it's so good to have a crisp game where we can play three rounds in three hours. That said, it feels like it's hard to cross open terrain effectively? At least, my brother had a devil of a time closing with my vet guard using novitiates. Maybe it's just easier with more minis and an improved ratio of chaff to heavy weapons folks? (We ran the final mission in the starter set as 6 novitiates against 6 vet guard - crossbow, 2 flamethrowers, sergeant, whip, and giant chainsword against sergeant, three gunners, two troopers. The guard lost but it was down to one or two rolls.)

They don't call it no man's land for nothing. That said, if you can't cross the board to the enemy without needing to go through >9" of open space, the board is too open.

Kill Team 2 is just super deadly. If you are fighting a ranged team and aren't in cover and concealed, you are probably gonna die.

You say you skipped some rules, can I ask did you guys use/understand the 'Obscured' part of the Line of Sight rules? It's a bit tricky to understand from reading the core book, but it makes a huge difference in balancing the power of shooting in the game. Essentially if an enemy model is partially covered from PoV of the attacker by heavy terrain which they are more than 2" away from, they are not a valid target, whether they are concealed or not. My group played without understanding this rule for a while, but once we understood it, it's really a game changer as it closes down a lot of shooting opportunities. I'm sure there are some good videos that explain it better as it's an important, easily misunderstood rule.

We did get obscured and conceal pretty well, and the novitiates were mostly unshootable for turns one and two, there just wasn’t tons of cover. We set up the map according to the scenario terrain guidelines for mission 4 of the starter set’s rule book-three fences and three pieces of light terrain, so I imagine in a real game it would be much more crowded.

I played a super casual game of KT against a friend from work and his Ecclesiarchy on Saturday with my Tomb World. I rolled two 4 man Fireteams of Immortals with Gauss Blasters with x5 Starfire Cores. We are new and really only had 1 heavy element and like about 7 light elements on the board. poo poo went REAL bad for the Sisters of Battle because they could not trade fire with the Immortals. It felt like every time it was my shot, I was either outright killing the target or absolutely maiming them. It was a complete slaughter. It really made us aware of how important good terrain is because I hardly played for objectives, and just went guns blazing and tabled him by the end of Turning Point 3 and I felt loving horrible lol.
