More along the lines of unexpected cover. The Carpenters did a bit from Dead Man's Curve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzidWCEOFTA They do nothing at all different with it except cut out a verse. It's just so bizarre this happened. They also did a partial cover of Fun, Fun, Fun with Richard trying to do both Mike Love and Brian Wilson. Karen has nothing to do in either cover, making them further worthless as who cares about Richard's voice?

The guy who mixed together that fake cover (and played sax on it) posted an update a year afterwards, it blew up pretty big and got played on a bunch of radio stations and he actually got it pressed on vinyl and that hit #24 on the vinyl singles chart.
