No it wasn't a false report about the transport plane full of VDV getting shot down. The US provided the Intel for it

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/us-intel-helped-ukraine-protect-air-defenses-shoot-russian-plane-carry-rcna26015

I would argue this is one of the most strategically important tactical actions of the entire war so far.

It was easy for Kremlin propaganda and bots to basically signal boost the legit problems of the world for the last decade because, let's be honest, things in the 21st century are not exactly running well and increasing numbers of people are finding themselves on the wrong side of worsening economic stratification.

Then they start slipping in the more hardline and social conservative stuff, and the same people who parroted the legit criticism just kept uncritically parroting Russia's bullshit when it got to the "western blue haired SJWs want to turn your innocent children trans" and "the Ukrainian people are actually Russian and yearn for freedom from the evil coked up nazi Zelensky" point.

Oh yeah, they'll absolutely help quite a bit, they've just been way over-hyped.

Probably not. It's not a great gun for military use anyway and the US switched to the M3 as soon as it could. It's ridiculously expensive, heavy, temperamental, and chambered in a round that's unused in Russia and Europe in any quantity. And you'd have to get the lovely shell of Auto-Ordinance to get an export license to a sanctioned country for military use, or just smuggle them over... for some reason.

WW2 era thompsons were $200 USD in 1930s-1940s money, they were really expensive even after being modified to be simpler and cheaper

Isn't a lot value in F-16 that it opens up a lot of options for NATO missiles and bombs?

So it looks like Biden just called for 3K reservists to be pulled up to active duty as support for Europe/NATO efforts. Presumably this is backfill for people deployed as support for NATO partners. Training, logistics, manning boats and poo poo, etc.

Small number of people but unusual enough to warrant attention I guess. Not sure what prompted it.

Not sure it's unusual. It's really common to call up reservists for exercises.

I believe you, don't really know anything about how that all works. Just thought it was interesting since it was a few thousand people specifically earmarked as going towards support for "Operation Atlantic Resolve". I don't recall usually seeing specific EOs to pull reservists up to full active duty like that either but I admit I haven't looked into it carefully.

I had a bunch of friends get called back for IRR duty a while back while I wasn't. Sometimes there is just a weird shortage of a specific MOS in certain areas due to retirements or other stuff and they need a few folk to paint some parking lots while the trainees finish school. Chances of recall are of course higher the more specialized your MOS... I bet there are a number of Russian linguists getting brought back for a few more months.

The updated list of German aid also includes systems for IRIS-T SLM SAM.

Ten units of laser aiming equipment and ten fire command units for the IRIS-T SLM SAM were transferred to Ukraine.

I've seen intercepts with 10-15 rounds so I would say 10ish shot down. I've also seen them fire 3-5 round bursts so maybe they've got hot-poo poo operators who are more efficient than that
