I liked the IRA storyline, but it was pointless and went nowhere. Like much of the show, it was potentially a great storyline that got ruined by useless drama. Henry Rollins as the Neo Nazi thug was a great casting choice. I still don't understand how Sons was popular when Justified was a better show by every metric. If anyone needs a shittier Bootleg of Sons, we now have Ranch Toxic Masculinity, Yellowstone. (OK, look. I get that it's just clothes, and I'm the last guy who should be giving fashion advice since I regularly dress like a guy who gives you dumb side quests in FarCry, but it bugs the gently caress out of me seeing dudes dress like ranch hands who've never even smelled poo poo. It pisses me off that the guy who inherited an orchard leased by Mott's and maintained by Undocumented labor dressing like he is out on the cattle drive. Meanwhile, that gently caress couldn't tell you gently caress all about his own crop and drives a shiny truck that never gets used except for Costco runs. Small Strawberry Frosty, please.)

Henry Rollins was absolutely phenomenal in season 2. He's not a bad actor. He is either always cast well or chooses his projects extremely well. I know he is pretty typecast, but he's done some cool poo poo. He did a low budget horror movie, "The Last Heist" which was super fun.

Walton Goggins' recurring role on Sons was also... fascinating. Started as a "lol trans people" joke, then bam, next season became a genuine character with a backstory and personal relationships, and ended with a serious romantic arc with a main character that wasn't played for jokes at all. The early 2010s hit that show in some interesting ways.

I think we talked about this before but Rollins legit helped me (and later find out a lot of other people) figure out as a 19 year old hick from an ultraconservative evangelist family that gay people were fine and you should just let people be happy and who they want to be. First time hearing an edgy masculine tough guy just straight up talk about it in a non toxic way in one of his spoken word albums. A small but life changing event for me that came from a totally unexpected place. I’ll always respect him for that.
