It's not, though ice cream trucks are seen as kid stuff. Even so, my co-worker once heard the ice cream truck go by outside and chased that thing a block. It was getting close to the end of the day at the end of the week and she wanted some drat ice cream. She negotiated with the driver to slow down a bit when driving by our office for the rest of the summer.

The reason I love those Halo Top ads is that most ice cream pitches aimed at adults blather on about pampering, indulging, the decadence of top-level ingredients. Don't let it being next to the Popsicles fool you, this is properly up-market dairy dessert. The Halo Top ad campaign doesn't even bother. Just a hand on the shoulder. Wait so the kid isn't really there in Crankshaft?

For ice cream trucks, I presume they have certain set routes and can't go in business lots, because I know they would make loving mint if they went by Discount Tire during the spring and summer here. I mean I see food trucks all over, ice cream trucks make so much more sense in summer time.

No, the kid is like some saccharine manifestation of how The Old Days were so much better, especially the comics! This middle-aged gently caress isn't really interested in the comics he'll find in Comic-Con, he's just coming along so he can feel closer to something from his childhood that brought him comfort.

This isn't even the first time Batiuk pulled this poo poo, either. IIRC, he had this old guy go inside a beach cave in California where a scene from his favorite childhood show was shot in. But he got trapped inside because there was a raging fire outside, so the old gently caress hallucinated his childhood self and him going on adventures in their favorite show that miraculously led him to the other end of the cave and into safety.

It's not, but ad campaigns love inventing new problems for their product to solve. (I suppose this sort of "creative" angle is necessary when you manage to gently caress up making decent tasting ice cream. I'm glad I had a coupon to try it for free, because I was disappointed enough with it without wasting the $4-5 they wanted for a pint of it.)
