I have a Frank update, apologize for the picture dump. But first, he's a tall boi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5sQ98164rc Gonna be a basketball player. Anyway, We had three major roadblocks to keeping Frank. #1 FIV, and he tested negative. #2, how he got along with our 15 year old Silky Terrier Oliver  That was from last week. Just this morning Oliver was sniffing around where Frank's food dish usually is. Frank went over to see what was happening and OIiver growled just a bit and Frank jumped and moved away. Oliver, by the way, is a fantastic drama king and is terrified of the other cat in the house. But this was a good sign. #3 was the big one and it was whether or not my wife and I wanted to take on another animal. Oliver is an old man and has a lot of health issues. Lemew, the other cat, is about 12 or 13 and has arthritis, not made any better by her missing leg and how she has had to compensate while walking. We don't have kids and are looking forward to not necessarily having anything to tie us down for travelling in the future. We made the decision to reach out to some reputable rescues. None of them would take him if he was intact, and the appt to get him snipped at our vet isn't until August 8th. We got in touch with the urgent care overnight animal hospital that tested him for FIV and they said they could do it overnight friday. New plan - get him fixed, let him recover and then contact the rescue. Well he came home and was very standoffish  Please excuse my face. I'm old and tired. All he wants to do is cuddle. Me: lay on your back and he'll lay right down on your chest. Wife (who doesn't want to keep him but doesn't want to let him go): no Frank:  We still haven't introduced Frank to Lemew, and that will be something we need to find out if he is going to stay because as much as I already love him, I don't want to put Lemew in a situation where Frank is hostile and she can't defend herself. She can't get up on anything to get away from him, so we have to keep a good eye when we do that. But for now he is more than happy to lay on whomever presents themself.   He's very quick to let you rub his belly, even with the cone on and he can't see what is happening down there. I'm really hoping we can keep him but if not, he is going to make someone a very good companion. And lastly, he finally pooped and peed last night - first time since his procedure.  Because of course we couldn't have one animal in the house that wasn't a goddamn weirdo. I'm sure that "standing up to poop" is a thing for some cats but in my history of having cats I've never seen this.

i love it when cats are cleaning themselves and the part they are cleaning fights back, i've watched my cat cleaning her tail and having to stop and grab it because it started going nuts i've always liked the idea that the tail is in a symbiotic relationship with the cat and thats why it seems like it has a mind of its own
