As someone who was really easily scared shitless as a kid, I am so, so very glad that I never saw Return to Oz until a couple years ago.

Wizard of Oz was terrifying to kid me with poo poo like the mind games that the witch plays on Dorothy and the scarecrow getting gutted by the flying monkeys in distinctly proto-zombie-movie fashion, so I can only imagine the psychic damage its utterly bonkers belated sequel would've caused had I seen it around that same time.

cheapo american cheese works super well, but i like to throw in a few slices of semi-fancfy melty cheese like comte or pepperjack too.

pepperjack might be my all-time favorite for grilled cheeses, but europa scorns the north american pleasures, so it's drat near impossible to find.

nah you're right, it absolutely loving is. no wonder disney was so terrified of it and had to be pressured into letting the director finish the production by the likes of george lucas and francis ford coppola.

weirdly enough had a similar experience of walking in on someone else's older brother watching tales from the crypt as a kid, tho this one was of an intermission with the cryptkeeper draining some kind of fluid out of a corpse, but I didn't understand it was a corpse at the time so you can imagine how that stuck with me.

I’m pretty sure the first movie my parents ever took me to see in theatres was Batman Returns, and I was so freaked out the first time Batman showed up that I stood up and walked out of the theatre.

It’s only just now that it’s occurring to me that I was only like three years old when that movie came out.

lol

My dad tried to put a parental password on waaaay too late, like I was 12 or 13, but I watched him set it to "dad" :frogbon:

I didn't complain cause I just bypassed it but he removed it after like a week because it wouldn't let him watch anything without putting it in

I wanna sing one for the cars

And it's dark and there is nobody driving And something has got to give

My parents let me watch Tales from the Crypt in elementary school, but it was always on right before my bedtime, so I'd frequently fall asleep on the couch watching it, which is how I had the thrashing flesh wad nightmare that stayed with me for decades afterward. Inattentive parents, yeeeeah

This thread is also reminding me of the classmate from second grade who was bragging about his parents taking him to an R-rated movie. It was Arachnophobia, which I only learned in adulthood was PG-13. Elliot, you lying piece of poo poo!

My mother was the spooky horror movie mom who went way too far with the witch costume on Halloween every year until eventually she was marching around with a hand painted clay skull on a staff while I was dressed as a pirate or a ladybug. SC is on my to-do list for my JRPG 2-athon of Octopath 2 > Trails in the Sky SC > FF2 so I'm looking forward to it.

I do know the broad strokes of the plot from reading the completionist LP of it when it was current years ago but I've forgotten all the details and there's nothing like playing it for yourself.

I had a book about alien abduction when I was a kid and even then it struck me as weird that a bunch of the stories were "this dude got abducted, taken to a room and stripped naked, then a super hot babe came in, they had a bunch of sex, then the aliens kicked him off of the spaceship."

And it wasn't like some the only veiled erotica book because what I put in quotes was basically the level of detail in the book.
