I did go and check today and it turns out they actually do have a good system and I've been pissed off about nothing. You can specifically turn off the porn games while keeping stuff that might have occassional nudity. My problems are solved

How do Steam's family account settings work? My kids are 2 and 0 so I don't have to worry about it anytime soon but theoretically at some point I'd want them to have access to kids' games but not violent or scary poo poo (or my dozens of hentai tentacle games ofc)

The library sharing though, I have it enabled for my wife and myself, she can access my library but I can't access hers. No idea why. I've double checked. Also you can't use the same library on two devices (maybe with offline mode?).

Microsoft also has a really half baked family thing that would work if they'd expose more control to the parents - i.e. being able to whitelist certain programs rather than having to authorise her for x amount of time everytime she wants to use chrome/firefox at school

We are week 2 of Toddler Soccer class. It is chaos. I will say, it is super fun to bamboozle a toddler with a ball. This kid is The Washington General right now, he can't keep up with my Harlem Globetrotter skill

it feels really loving good to have a string of really full and fulfilling days for your toddler with no major meltdowns or other incidents. we crushed it at a splash pad after waiting most of the day for the rain to clear out and then the next day went to a party at a park where she ran around for 5 straight hours. the next day after daycare was a trip to another park, and then with the grandparents to the community pool the next day. I’m extremely happy to have been able to give her such an amazing time, but I’m also prepared for her to do some unhinged toddler poo poo at basically any moment.

A few nights ago my wife was out with friends so I spent the evening at home with my 21mo. I took an edible after dinner and wow what a lovely experience that was, playing with him while slightly high. I felt like I was noticing so much of his language that I hadn't noticed before. I took notes of a few made-up words he seemed to have for things, and when I told my wife later she was like "ohhh yeah that actually sounds a little like the Cantonese for those things" (my wife is Hong Kongese so we're trying to raise him bilingual, I know gently caress all Cantonese though) Aside from the noticing his words though, playing with him while a little high was just absolutely delightful  . I was feeling a lot of connection.

Weed makes me a better parent, booze a worse one. I still drink but I’m much more judicious about when and how much than I used to be. I go and take a smoke break pretty much as soon as I’m home from work though and it gives me a lot more patience and perspective with the kids.
