I don't think I ever played any of the others Dark Messiah is an incredible game and I strongly recommend playing it if you can get it, it's a bit unstable as it runs on a janky version of the source engine, but the game is basically engineered around pratfalling your way through hordes of baddies.

Skyrim is huge because starting with Morrowind, a greater and greater audience was exposed with each game. Morrowind got a console release, so more people were able to play it compared to folks who had a pc that could play it. Then Oblivion came out right after the xbox 360's release and people wanted something to play on their hot new console, plus it presumably got some positive press from people who liked Morrowind (at least, pre-release). This isn't even ALL the titles. They forgot to include Herr or Frau. Literally you could legit address a University professor Herr/Frau Doktor Professor. Also the Dr. Dr. is probably a bad translation because of Medical doctor AND PhD.
