The Washington post says

quote:

The soldier had been punished for misconduct while serving in South Korea and was being sent home to the United States, according to a U.S. official. But he did not get on his scheduled flight after U.S. military personnel took him to the airport, the official said, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity.

So it has a good chance of being true

So he did something bad enough to get sent back to the US, but not bad enough that he wasn't allowed to travel on his own recognizance?

He was in a Korean jail facing assault charges. USFK got him out of the jail. My guess is he got an article 15 before being sent back to be adsepped, and the MPs that took him to the airport were just treating him like a general adsep and not a criminal. They probably escorted only as far as security checkpoints or whatnot with directions to him to board his flight.

EMERGENCY POWER TO PARTY
Good god. You have a criminal in custody in an allied country, drop him off at the airport with nothing more than a stern word and the fear of the UCMJ to get him on the plane, and you end up starting a goddamn international incident with a third-party, rogue nuclear state while simultaneously infuriating the host country. lol. lmao

The 16 people being charged in Michigan allegedly met in the basement of the state's Republican Party headquarters and signed multiple certificates claiming they were “the duly elected and qualified electors for president and vice president of the United States of America for the state of Michigan,” Nessel said in recorded remarks.

“That was a lie. They weren’t the duly elected and qualified electors, and each of the defendants knew it,” she continued.

Some of the electors attempted to deliver these false documents to the state Senate, but were turned away, she said; the documents were later sent to the U.S. Senate and the National Archives "with the intent that Vice President Pence would overturn the results of the election, using the false electoral slate," Nessel said.

Nessel said the "false electors" are being charged with eight felony counts each, including forgery.

"The false electors' actions undermine the public's faith in the integrity of our elections and not only violated the spirit of the laws enshrining and defending our democracy, but we believe also plainly violated the laws by which we administer our elections in Michigan and peaceably transfer power in America," she said.

The 16 individuals include Michigan GOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock and state Republican National Committeewoman Kathy Berden. Michele Lundgren, who was also charged, previously told local television station WDIV that she thought she was signing an attendance sheet for a meeting.

"I didn't even know what an elector was, let alone a fake elector," she told the station.

And it makes the PLA look like a severely underfunded joke. I get where they're coming from, in that they're trying to do the David & Goliath shtick, but even North Korea at least tries to make their military look tough in their propaganda.

We demand to be taken seriously

Beginning to fear the king may be out of touch:

Britain’s Most Famous Landlord, the King, Made $34 Million From Rising Rents
Rents are rising across Britain, and the nation’s most famous landlord was no exception. He received about $34 million from his real estate portfolio.

quote:

Rents in the United Kingdom are rising at a record pace, a trend that helped the nation’s most famous landlord, King Charles III, make a big payday.

Charles received 26.2 million pounds, or about $34.3 million, this year from his vast property empire, known as the Duchy of Lancaster. Charles inherited the estate when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died last fall.

The 45,000-acre estate is roughly the size of Washington D.C. and generates millions of dollars a year in rental income, without paying corporation taxes like most businesses in Britain are obliged to. (Charles voluntarily pays an undisclosed amount of tax on his private income)

quote:

This money is separate from the annual £86 million (around $112 million) taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant, which pays for most official royal expenses.

quote:

Royals do not have to explain how they spend the private income they take from the duchies. When Charles was 4, for example, he began receiving £209,000 (in today’s value) from his estate. In a letter to civil servants, the Duchy of Cornwall only said the money was for his “maintenance and education.”

Maybe if that guy's lucky, DPRK will react kind of like Iran did when a bunch of US sailors cruised into Farsi island waters on accident. Iran basically held them for a day, realized they were just very lovely sailors/navigators and not CIA super-spies, and let them go after a scripted apology.
