Is vaguely aware of the drama that is going on, albeit through the lens of a language barrier. Leaves the internet behind to go to work, hoping this will have blown over while I'm away. Comes back to all of this. ...I'd make the standard 'that escalated quickly' joke but having been caught up I just... urgh. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to feel here as almost everything about this whole situation is poo poo. Edit - Like I can't even just ignore it, pretend I don't know what's going on and just play the game I enjoy because, on top of everything else, this is going to cause massive delays too. I don't blame them for not wanting to be stabbed by fascist manchildren, but I also don't know if'll be able to enjoy anything they make from now on and even if I do keep playing and try to not let this ruin my impression of their artistic output, where's the guarantee that they won't alter upcoming things? future story updates and other content might be designed to pander to these losers wonder if they'll start adding the same generic waifu poo poo that's already drowning almost every other game like this

From a Steam review but seems like stuff was compiled to some extent maybe As a rundown of what's going on: -English Translators have spoken up about the fact that they are expected to meet absurd deadlines, that they are severely overworked, and that they received dialogue for Chapter 4 less than a week before it was set to release (noting that Chapter 4 was about 12k words, or a quarter of Library of Ruina's total wordcount), at a time when one of the translators was on vacation. As a result, the translation was of limited accuracy. -The illustrator for the Leviathan comic tweeted that they were also subject to absurd deadlines and also implied that there was no official line of communication with the director of Project Moon, given that they testified that they had to call their phone in order to make a complaint about working conditions, only to be told less than three hours later that the comic had been terminated. NishikujiC produced a majority of the artwork used in Project Moon's five year anniversary event. In light of recent events, they have disavowed their working relationship with the company and are currently considering taking down their extensive library of fanart. -KanKan33333, a Japanese illustrator, was previously hired to work on a comic for Project Moon; likely what later became Leviathan. They later decided not to commit to the project, citing personal reasons. In the wake of this, significant outcry from the community caused them to delete their social media and much of their Project-Moon related artwork (which would occur several more times in the following 2-3 years); in the meantime, their production of fanart for other gacha games continued. Project Moon did not release a statement in support of the artist. -Incel groups in Korea demanded that Project Moon fire a 'feminist illustrator' over the fact that they made allegedly misandrist tweets. Among the claims, at least within the English speaking community, are that they are a transphobe and that they were in support of the immediate abortion of all male foetuses. These claims are unsubstantiated, and a literal translation of the tweets that the incel groups shared with Project Moon contains little objectionable material, with its main focus being the idea that women should not be filmed without their consent. These tweets were not only 5-6 years old at the time of their posting, but were fetched via Wayback Machine because the artist had since deleted them and stopped associating with feminist groups, in keeping with a company policy of employees not involving their public social media accounts with politics. -The source of the drama appears to be the fact that one of the female characters was not adequately sexualised for the game's summer event, which led to incel groups trawling through the company's employees' social media histories. This was partially enabled by the fact that Project Moon itself revealed in a tweet that the employee's social media tag was the same as their identity in the game's credits, allowing incels to dox them and find their SNS. It should be noted that the artist whom they pilloried was not responsible for character design, was not an executive at the company, and exclusively drew cutscene and promotional art, which did not contain the character design in contention at any point. -Project Moon responded to the drama by firing the 'feminist illustrator' and releasing a hastily written justification on social media, claiming that the employee was fired for breaking a contract clause about keeping politics out of their publicly-visible social media accounts, in spite of the fact that the offending material was removed from the artist's timeline and 5-6 years old, from long before the contract was written. This response was also not translated to English, Chinese, or Japanese. Project Moon has an extensive history of mismanagement. Nearer to their founding, much of this was forgivable due to the recency of their establishment. However, their response to the sexist and incomprehensible attacks upon their employees, as well as their willingness to jeopardise the career of a recently hired illustrator in order to direct attention away from other cases of incompetence, elicits both an intense irony -- as their stories revel in the critique of amoral corporate bureaucracy and greed -- and indicates a total lack of moral fibre. Other companies have stood their ground in the face of this kind of backlash before. By caving to the demands of online incel communities, Project Moon have lost the support of both their international fans who are criticising them for letting the artist go, and a majority of the audience which wanted the artist fired in the first place whose opinions of the company have not changed. Project Moon is, at best, self-serving and insipid. At worst, their management is consciously elevating drama surrounding the past beliefs of one of their most vulnerable employees in order to distract from their own ineptitude. I encourage you to do your own research. Sources available upon request (though details about the translators are difficult to source due to the fact that their statement was made on the Limbus Company Discord, which has disabled message history in light of the controversy)

Yeah I have no pretense that anything I do matters, but it's important to draw your own lines in the sand to stick to in order to keep your own sanity. I'm a drop in their bucket, but I was throwing them some money, and i'm disappearing over this. I hope enough others leave at the same time to affect them into noticing. But that isn't why my leaving matters, i know they'll give zero shits and be fine. it's about having so little influence over the garbage reality that surrounds me i'll take whatever mote of control I have in telling it to gently caress off out of my life. And I'm not giving any grief to anyone who isn't as bent out of shape as me over this for sticking around. God drat do I hate all of this. I've adored all of projects moons games and been obsessed with the world they created, but it just feels so poisoned by all the bullshit that went down today. I'm in too deep to completely wash my hands of it all and stop following the story, but I can't in good conscience keep giving them money. This loving sucks.
