There is a genre of new york machine politician like torres, greg meeks and hakeem jefferies who are not jewish but are the biggest AIPAC freaks in congress, even more than fundi chuds. It's very weird.

lol if most of the weapons the US sends to Israel gets used on Israelis in a Civil War i know this is optimistic; the mutual hatred towards Palestinians is still too much of a unifying force

I don't really have a problem with a country getting rid of it's judicial review. If anything it's more democratic and I don't know why people think that a supreme court is going to keep a voting public that loves apartheid and settler colonialism from doing apartheid and settler colonialism. Liberal jews who live in israel are getting what they deserve.

Hmm "shut the gently caress up mcmagic" ---------------------------------------- I'd like to offer my observation that "let's just force the whole population of the Gaza strip out!" is in no way an unpopular opinion around here so please don't be an accelerationist dickhead, things can in fact get hella worse.

the diminishment of the supreme court upsets the liberal zionists in part because libs think if your get a room full of robed guys to write an essay you can turn a wrong into something justified and proper and without this the religious zionist violence cant be deflected by some random court case where an arab got to keep their house as proof that genocide isn't happening

I saw this tweet, https://twitter.com/AliAbunimah/status/1684519166433267713 and I wanted to understand what was going on here. reading through the Al Jazeera piece that Maximo Roboto posted, https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2023/7/23/an-israeli-civil-war https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2023/4/12/israeli-protests-the-clash-of-competing-settler-colonial-visions my understanding is that: - the Netanyahu government wants to implement "judicial reform", which is a nice way of saying that they'd get to suborn the Israeli judiciary to be more in line with what the government wants - in this case "what the government wants" is to become even more hard-line against Palestinians, than they already have been, because currently the courts are still liberal enough to get in the way of the far-right excesses of the ... far-right government - this has sparked protests among liberal Israelis, because it would completely dissolve even the veneer of Israel being some kind of progressive liberal democracy state, if the far-right gets their way and stops with the pretense of caring about human rights, for the sake of accelerating the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians - and then, going back to that first tweet at the top of my post, it's saying that these liberal Israelis are now looking for a way out and move to whatever other country that could have them, because they don't want to be associated with Israel anymore, now that Netanyahu is completing the transformation of Israel into unpretentious fascism is that about right?

strong judicial review doesn't even exist in a lot of countries; for instance the UK parliament can pretty much pass whatever they want whether that's good or not is up to the individual i guess; it certainly reflects the will of the voters better
