euroracism and yankeeracism take substantially different forms and have substantially different emphases. euroracism is more casual and pervasive, whereas yankeeracism is generally more suppressed but also much more aggressive - the categories and racial myths are also rather different in various ways - if you're an american black man with an american black man's name you will probably have less trouble getting called in for interviews in france than you would in much of america, all else being equal. if you're called "muhammad jibril" or something you're completely hosed

One diplomatic source said money was very short and substantial funds could only come after the mid-term budget review that could take several more months to hash out, even with the autumn corn harvest around the corner. A Commission spokesperson confirmed receipt of the letter and said “we are currently assessing such requests and will reply in due course”.

Yeah but at that point you should be able to use your infantry crew-served weapons to do something back (not against the artillery directly obviously, but hopefully against some other poor shmuck infantry-man on the other side) and also this is the time for you to use your most important tool: the shovel. Now mother earth takes over protecting you from red hot metal shrapnel. Ofcourse if you get shelled before you can do enough digging you are hosed, but the beauty of the infantry is that it's fairly easy and cheap to have lots of them, so all your generals and politicians will be ok if you, personally, get red hot metal shrapnel inside your body at this point. Statistically enough of your colleagues will be able to dig themselves in and do their infantry job now that they've safely arrived on the battlefield.

This means you are very, very vulnerable to having like a hundred guys splattered by one fire mission from enemy artillery. APCs make it a lot less likely that your entire transport column gets turned into chunky salsa all at once because they're shrapnel-resistant. A direct hit still kills everybody inside but direct hits aren't very likely. Meanwhile, a shell going off anywhere near your truck or humvee or whatever means everybody in it is probably a casualty. When you get where you're going (or rather, 'get there' meaning close but outside of individual weapon ranges, ~500-1000m away or so) you pile out of your transports and disperse. At that point, you're vulnerable to artillery but it's a lot harder for artillery to blow up dispersed infantry who can drop flat and dig holes than it is to blow up a column of unarmored vehicles. That's pretty much it. When you need to gather up hundreds of guys into a nice 155mm artillery splatter zone for some reason, you want to wrap them in frag protection. IFVs take that concept and turn it into a light tank because hey why not
