Ramsdale is a tricky one because for every crucial save he makes (the Villa game, Anfield to not lose it) you can point out examples of mistakes that have made things far more difficult than they need to be. I don't think he's bad at all but if you look at Ederson, Pope, Alisson etc. there's a bit of a gap.

Let me simplify it for you, he is maybe the 3rd best forward in Atalanta and he isn't worth that much.

Well they got offers for Osimhen and rumors are that Newcastle bid for Kvara which I assume is true since they were looking for a winger but settled for Harvey Barnes.

Barca a bit lucky PSG couldn't put their paper work in time. If it was a previous board in charge I'd expect a story about them hiding Dembele's phone so he couldn't get terms agreed before the deadline.

I’m pretty surprised there hasn’t been more interest in Kvara. Expected a lot of teams to go after him given how monumental he was to Napoli’s success.

I am confident that this story starring Dembele, Barcelona, and PSG can get dumber and more farcical somehow, like he’s playing Fortnite on Twitch for 23 hours on deadline day and Barça has a loan extension approved via burrofax that’s only good until the end of August and it collapses again

Tapered off a bit after they had sealed the title and looked pretty ordinary in the last few weeks of the season. Its not that he didn’t earn that right, but I bet that has a lot to do with it. Was only good for one of the CL matches against Milan as well.

As for Hojlund, I also think that’s way too much. I didn’t even know he was at Atalanta until the last 9 or 10 match days of the season and even then he only looked like a big time player for a few games, largely against mid or lower level opposition. He did have a fairly long hot streak though, and that’s what got everyone’s attention.

Maybe he’s very good, but that is a big gamble. Atalantas owners have been pretty good at flipping their teams for years now, and United’s seem desperate or stupid a lot of the time so I guess it fits.

Raya to Arsenal, Turner to Forest, Dean Henderson back to the bench

WE MUST RETURN TO THE DANCE! THE NIGHT IS OURS!

If Arteta is so fed up with Ramsdale I dont want Ramsdale on the bench and hindering his development. So, Raya to Arsenal as #1, Ramsdale on 2 year loan to Brentford, facing a million shots a game, until he levels up and comes back to usurp and destroy his nemesis Raya. Arteta sign me up.

Winner of the PWM POTM for September
Winner of the PWM POTM for January
Co-Winner of the PWM POTM for March
Yeah, Leno's fantastic but he's not one of these new-fangled keepers you see these days that have two hands and two feet

Raya to Arsenal feels weird, but in the way that's too weird for it to be made-up transfer gossip, so I assume it'll be done by this time tomorrow. He'll be an improvement, but it really doesn't feel like a priority. Presumably they'll shift Ramsdale off somewhere for a decent chunk of the fee, and everyone's a winner? Except Arsenal, obviously when I say winner I don't mean literally.

To be fair, Arsenal's entire defense was catastrophic, but Leno just seemed so out of his depth when he had to pick a pass

quote:

Chelsea and other European clubs will no longer be able to spread a transfer fee across more than five years of a player’s initial contract after Uefa closed a loophole in its regulations.

[...]

There is still nothing in the rules – which come into force on Saturday – preventing a club from spreading the cost by extending a contract, but for amortisation purposes that extension could not be for more than five years either. Clubs can still sign players to longer contracts if their national associations allow it but the cost of the transfer fee must be amortised over the first five years unless the contract is extended.

is it something to do with release clauses maybe

BBC says it came into effect July 1st, so I can only assume they had an agreement behind the scenes prior to that and are only now announcing?
