Some people have pointedly remarked this is just damage control for the whole 'the hierarchy in the DC Universe is about to change' and indeed it did because Black Adam flopped and James Gunn took over and that this is damage control but... who cares? It's a good thing. And if it inspires more of the super rich actors to donate just so they're not shown up, a better thing.

I think it's more damage control for the news that he's getting paid $50 million for Amazon Studios' next anonymous action spectacle (Which was initially reported a good while back, but it started making headlines again a few weeks back around the start of the strike.)

The donation was also specifically to the strike relief fund. Even if it's damage control it's damage control by giving material support to the other workers in his union so who cares. SAG-AFTRA is just some actors union, they don't have revolutionary politics or need to.

If this is a recurring thing, do the heels ever take out a phone and start talking loudly on it as they fight through the train? That would be mega heat in Japan. Edit: a foreign heel (who probably did a promo in fluent Japanese last week) doesn't pay for their ticket, and when their opponent calls them out in it, they shrug and say "Sorry mate, I don't speak Japanese ¯\_(ツ)_/¯".
