There's always at least one button that does something you almost never want to do, a thing you want to do constantly that's not an easy convenient one, janky UIs, and sometimes whole control schemes seem rotated around by one and you're SOL for changing any.

Just finished the credits and epilogue for Octopath Traveler II. Gotta say, after being mostly disappointed by FF16, this was a complete turnaround. Superior gameplay, characters, story, charming art direction, phenomenal soundtrack. In all respects the superior JRPG offering from Square this year. Delightful! So far in 2023 I have completed: Citizen Sleeper Vampire Survivors Batora: Lost Haven Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider Hi-Fi Rush Wanted: Dead Chop Goblins Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (DLC) Valkyrie Elysium Age of Wonders 4 Diablo IV Final Fantasy XVI Octopath Traveler II Up Next: Baldur's Gate III babyyyyyyyy

Everyone should watch EVO this weekend (EVO thread). Even if you are are not a fighting game player it's cool to watch and also it'll make you want to become a fighting game player and lots of fighting games will likely be on sale.

I loaded up Armored Core 1 the other day, having only played the demo 25 years ago or whatever. I had no idea there was Verhoeven style satire in there. The first missions I got were literally "Kill the workers on strike" and "Clear out the squatters". Anyway, I died on the first mission and haven't played it since.

It's cool to see people checking out old games as part of the hype cycle for a new game, and I'm not sure I have seen people go for something so old before? And in notable numbers too, I have seen like a dozen new players post about AC1, between here and other social media On that note, I checked out the original Age of Wonders and I ended up liking it more than more recent entries like Planetfall. I was charmed from the moment the opening video started playing. The setting is all a bit too boilerplate, but everything is executed with such charm that I have fun even with what should be boring moments When I played AoW: Planetfall I remember being annoyed by how slow the combat was, but here it's even slower and I don't even mind! I just love seeing my little dudes walking around, exploding into yamcha poses when they get... exploded on. Lovely game
