The character weddings are a special thing that you have to register with SE ahead of time. They actually take place ingame in a special cathedral you can't access otherwise, there's cut scenes and stuff too. You can still crash them by being invited to attend but you can't double book because it's handled by the game's backend

That is actually incredible.

Those weddings are also, iirc, the only thing in the entire game that references your chosen patron deity. It used to affect elemental resistances but they took those out a looooooong time ago.

Yeah it's at the church of the 12 and the deities of the betrothed light up on the big altar

What's incredible is the custom in game posing cutscenes where your characters exchange rings magically and kiss after a moogle gives you wings. It's so over the top with the formal FF tier orchestra, I love it.

The cutscenes are staffed on the sidelines by all the guests so you can see 30+ people on the sides there cheering and clapping :allears:

Now that I'm into Endwalker I've begun getting the HW EX mounts. Birds look really stupid plodding along. Not even cool plodding like chocobos do, these look like seagulls after your fries

I don't think so, but expansion preorders seem to always come with xp boosting (up to a certain level) equipment. So if you plan to stick around and buy dawntrail anyway, that could be an option for you.

generally, they'll increase exp gain for a level bracket when a new expansion comes out. aside from preordering a new expansion, you can also get a 10% exp bonus earring from an achievement in bozjan content that works up to level 80.

lmao, I started with like 100k in gil when I found black jack also. the odds are much better in the game because its truly random (no multiple decks) things like 2.5x payout on black jacks, insta wins, and dealers than stand on 17 lmfao. Truly awesome.

Congrats! While I enjoyed ARR more than lots of folks, things REALLY picked up right at the end there, and HW is an amazing ride. There's a good 40+ minutes of cutscenes, so definitely clear your calendar.

For my part I'm working on 5.3 now. Just finished the 5.3 trial and now I'm going around with the scions saying goodbye to everyone and god drat. The scene with the Chais and Alphinaud just hit me right in the feels, haven't teared up this hard in this game since The Vault. Uh, not sure I'm ready for the rest of these quests...

For a while I've been using
Beginning of a show: "who are these clowns?"
End of a show: "I love every single one of these terrible clowns!"

And it works for FF14 expansions too.

I legit think that long time marketboard baron players with more gil than they know what to do with are a real boon to a scene like this. When a quarter billion gil barely even registers, you can just fund a high roller casino for fun and not need to worry about profitability .

I don't think it's spoilery all to congratulate you on what's probably the longest slog in the game (ARR post 2.0 patch content)

also, do the Crystal Tower series. Soon as you can. It's not optional though it's kind of pitched as such! It's really fun imo because there are a lot of sprouts and a few experienced runners who carry all of us, so it's a chatty, goofy good time most runs.

I don't know anything about the economics of the club scene, but I really hope it's mostly the hyper-rich running at a loss just to have fun, because the concept of running an MMO gambling den/dance club/brothel to make a profit is unspeakably sad to me

TATARU: They had so much fuckin' money in there you could build a housing plot out of Allagan Gold Pieces. And the best part was that the developers upstairs didn't know what the gently caress was going on. I mean, to them, everything looked on the up and up, right? Wrong. The players inside the manor were all slipped in there to skim the joint dry. They'd do short counts, they'd lose fill slips, they'd even take cash right out of the retainers. And it was up to this lalafell right here standing in front of about two million gil to skim the gold off the top without anybody getting wise, the developers or anybody. Now notice in a player house nobody seems to see anything. Somehow somebody's always looking the other way. Now look at these players, they look busy, right? They're counting gil, who wants to bother them? I mean, Twelve forbid they should make a mistake or forget to steal. Meanwhile, you're in, and you're out. Pass the jagoff miqo'te RPer who gets an extra Thavnairian Onion a week just to watch the housing raffle, I mean, it's routine. Business as usual. In, out, hello, goodbye, and that's all there is to it. Just another lalafell gently caress walking out of The Mists in his underwear.

I think the game does actually force you to finish Crystal Tower before finishing ARR's patches. I forget where the exact cutoff is though. A friend hit said cutoff point a while back.
