Wonder how Russia's gonna afford that (i guess its easy to double spending when your economy already doesn't exist except on paper and the ruble is worth whatever you want it to be worth)

There are no words to describe the criminality of Russia's leadership in creating a situation where the country can have no future by taking on such ruinous debt.

The state's very existence is in peril, and the greatest threat is coming from within.

The senior ranking killer dolphin responsible for the defense of the bridge is being sought for questioning for openly wondering, "Can we even call it a bridge anymore?". Meanwhile, the rest of the fighting dolphin brigade has videotaped a plea to Mr. Putin for the back pay of months of fish bricks that were never delivered but hastily added, before they swam away, that they were not criticizing the supreme authority.

Hindsight is 20/20 but man, look at that graph and imagine if Putin had had the sense to retire in 2015 or thereabouts, after the relatively bloodless annexation of Crimea.

Not only would he spend the last decade or two of his life travelling on his superyachts with his ballerina girlfriend, but the Russian people would have started raising statues in his honour pretty much immediately and he'd have gone down in history as one of the best Russian leaders ever.

Russia is preparing a "false flag" provocation in Belarus

https://mil.in.ua/en/news/russia-is-preparing-a-false-flag-provocation-in-belarus/

quote:

Russia wants to use the so-called Wagner PMC to draw Belarus into a full-scale war against Ukraine.

The press service of the Security Service of Ukraine said that it had received intelligence indicating that the Russians were preparing a large-scale provocation.

The provocation is to take place “under a false flag” at a strategic facility in Belarus – the Mozyr Oil Refinery.

According to the available information, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of Russian military personnel is preparing a terrorist attack.

The training is also carried out by Russian special services officers who were sent to Belarus under the guise of mercenaries of the Wagner PMC.

“This Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group is supposed to commit a provocation, pretending to be Ukrainian saboteurs,” the SSU said.

The Russian Federation plans to blame Ukraine for the attack in order to once again try to drag Minsk into a full-scale war. The SSU received information about the planned terrorist attack in Belarus from several sources.

“In particular, from the testimony of a Russian serviceman who was captured by Ukrainian defenders in the Zaporizhzhia region,” the SSU added.

The SSU cyber specialists also recovered and analysed information on the mobile phone of the captured invader.

Among other things, it was established that he had previously taken part in hostilities against the Defence Forces in southern Ukraine, and had recently been instructed to relocate to Belarus as a member of the so-called Wagner PMC.

Already at the stage of changing his place of service, the Russian military man received information about a “special mission” at the Mozyr Oil Refinery. The SSU cyber specialists found deleted correspondence with other performers, photos of the facility and some information about the operation on his phone.

As previously reported, on 21 February 2022, Russian special services conducted a false flag operation, attacking Russian territory using armoured vehicles under the guise of a “Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group”.

Belarus is, and has always been, a warring partner of this war. They allowed Russia to use their land to invade Kyiv, and provided support and hospital services to the Russian forces attacking, while allowing Russia to set up air radars, anti-air systems and other facilities on their land against Ukraine. The front might be inactive, but for Ukrainian army, it is a valid front and Belarus is one of the aggressors against them.

Ukraine has all rights to assault that front, or use force against belligerent forces located in Belarusian side of the border. I really do not understand why this isn't common knowledge already.

Wasn't one of the reasons for America getting involved in WWI was the realization that "oh poo poo, the British have borrowed so much loving money from us to fight this war, we better help them win so they can live to pay us back"?

No, that's largely a myth. The war wasn't going to end with Prussians marching down the streets of London. Britain probably wouldn't even lose any major colonies.

The US entering the war was a combination of increasing public disapproval of the submarine campaign, capped off with Germany pulling a diplomatic move so boneheaded that most people thought it was a British false-flag until Zimmerman admitted that he'd sent it.

Seriously, look up the Zimmerman Telegram. It's pants on head crazy and a senior diplomat not only did it, but admitted it. Barbara Tuchman has an excellent book on the subject.
