Instant replay is an extreme blight on baseball. Tom Murphy is at the plate and checks his swing on a pitch. He immediately goes to first, and the call is a hit by pitch. The Angels challenge that he wasn't hit by a pitch, and it takes 5 minutes for them to determine he wasn't actually hit by a pitch and the call is overturned. However, Tom Murphy was actually asking for the Mariners to challenge the play for Catcher's Interference, not a HBP, so the Mariners ask for a challenge that there was Catcher's Interference (which there clearly seemed to be!), and we spend another minute and a half watching the same drat replay for the umps to rule that there was no Catcher's Interference, Murphy is sent back to hit, the pitch is ruled a strike instead of a ball as it initially was, and Murphy ends up striking out. Why the gently caress did we waste 7 minutes for reviewing something to get the call completely wrong with an extremely opposite result?

in the guardians game the second baseman pushed the runners hand off the bag with a tag and the up correctly called him safe. then they video reviewed it and overturned and called him out even though he was very obviously safe since it was an illegal tag. new york sucks
